Yes, I'm a fan for what he's done for the team. Good player for a long time.

I still don't understand how he got that contract even if he had a decent season last year (which he didn't). Seems like a classic case of a GM negotiating against himself. Players should be lining up to sign with his agent.

I already nominated Brook's Agents for Agent of the year for that deal. Along with Engelland's.

Flats is a huge help, but we have no one to currently play with him. You gotta think that with our depleted lineup Magic Mike will throw him back down to 3C, right?

I'd think so, he might roll him with Geno at times, I love how he actually makes in game adjustments with the lines. Not just geno with sid at times like DB

IMO Orpik was a descent pick up short term for the caps. They now have stability in their top 4 and I think it makes Green and Carlson better all around players this season.

The contract is going to hamper the Caps 2 years from now though

- homiedclown

That contract hampered the Caps the minute he signed it. What a waste of good money for a player who is well over the hill. WAY OVER THE HILL

MAF lucks out again He gives up 3 goals on 10 shots and is replaced by Zatkoff who gives up one goal the rest of the way and is given credit for the loss. MAF gets off the hook again

Being pulled from a game is getting "off the hook"?

Green yes. It allows him to have a 61% Offensive zone start average.

Carlson is just far and away their best defensemen

Is this hyperbole or sarcasm? You do know that Quick has been pulled a few times this season already too? MAF is having a great season and one stinker doesn't take that away from him.

Are you going to try and tell me how good Mike Green is defensively and how he isn't being sheltered?

Yeah, while playing his 4th game in 6 nights and having an off night after pretty much carrying the team the past few games and being one of the top goalies in the league this season... He's a real goat.

Fleury will play a dozen good games in a row, and people like that will be absolutely silent... One bad game, and they pop up like mushrooms after the rain.

fleury's save percentage is like .923 or so, top 10 for starters, also has the most shutouts...its not black and white, its not that hes either great, or bad, goalie is the hardest position to play day in and out, hes above average, at times shows brilliance, hes also human, and goalie confidence makes a huge difference, as he matures he is proving that a mistake doesnt ruin the rest of the game, he surely didnt lose us the series against the rangers

could he play the puck less or improve that part of his game, of course, any goalie can improve every aspect of their game...

whats my point? we have a good to great goalie, every goalie makes mistakes, would reimer be this good for us? hell no, what about mike smith or halak? very doubtful...his stats have been very good, and come playoff time everyone will still wonder if he has what it takes, well he does, its just a matter of the team that performs in front of him, orpik said himself in the recent interview that their are expectations and outside pressures for the pens to not only make the playoffs but succeed, whether that means making it to or winning the stanley cup...so, if you are a pens fan, maybe try and support your #1 goalie, who has all the talent in the world, instead of bashing him, leave that for the rest of the NHL to do...

I would push hard for Nick Foligno. Very good complimentary player for our top 6. Could see him being a good Kunitz/Dupuis replacement for years.

yea, us and everyone else...hes having a career year, for a team in our division, granted hes going to be a free agent, and columbus already has a tough time scoring, as much as I agree in that he would be beneficial to us, i think the asking price would be ludacris, not to mention, theyd probably never trade him within the division...
