Though you want that 1st to be '15 and he's overselling Brady big time... Hagelin is worthless in EDM though.

We don't have a '15 1st and Skjei is compared to McDonagh. He's gonna be a stud and the Rangers even wanted him to go pro this year because they felt he would've won a spot on the roster straight out of camp but he declined. Hags is a forward that can provide take up some defensive responsibility.

It's a similar package to what got us Nash...2 roster players, a top defensive prospect, and a 1st. Except I think Kreids and Skjei's ceilings are higher than Dubi's, Anisimov's, and Erixon's.

If I were Rangers, Id try to get a Eberle/Schultz combo. Eberle would likely be moved before Hall and Schultz needs a new change of scenery and his old teammate McDonagh can show him the ropes in NYC

I find that hard to believe because:
A) Staal is a pending UFA, and while you did mention there is a conditional pick based on whether Staal re-signs or not, I doubt EDM would deal Hall for most likely a 2 month rental and a mid to late 1st (hopefully), a 2nd, and another roster player
B) The Rangers are stacked on the wing with Nash, MSL, Zuccarello, Kreider, Duclair, Buchnevich, Haggerty all possessing top-6 ability and guys like Hagelin and Fast and Glass locking up spots in the bottom 6
C) The Rangers forfeit any chance they have at contending for a Cup this year by moving Staal
D) The Rangers are pretty thin in terms of defensive prospects outside of Skjei

I would think that if a deal were to happen, it would be centered around Skjei and Kreider. EDM gets a big, fast winger that can step into the top-6 to replace Hall immediately and get one of the top young defensive prospects in the game who projects to be a shutdown top pairing guy.

In what universe is Skjei "one of the top young defensive prospects in the game" ? He's playing in College, College isn't the NHL or the AHL for that matter. If Hall is moved, the Oilers would be looking at a Top 2 defender, a Top 6 forward and a pick or prospect. So, conversation would start and end at McDonagh.

For sure, but at the same time we got a 3rd round pick back with Nash and Kreider > Dubi and Anisimov and Skjei >> Erixon so the package I offered is similar only better, which is why I thought it might be close to fair? Maybe not though. It's a pipedream and won't ever happen anyway. Rangers won't gut their team for Hall.
