We need to maximize the assets that we do have because we have so few. It would be silly to throw any away - bezz44
Higgins and Burrows are not assets though. |

Fla are in the playoffs . At least they were yesterday and NYI are playoff bound too. - VANTEL
FLA also won their division two years ago and the NYI were in the playoffs as well. Each followed up their playoff debut with a top 5 pick |

Burrows maybe you have a point. If you do not think teams will pay for Higgins you are crazy |

Higgy is a good depth player, teams will pay for his services at his $$$ value. With us though, he's one of the reasons we're spinning our wheels. |

Friedman "if they - LeftCoaster[Boston] can get him [Kassian] to be who he can be, and he hasn't been that yet, he will be what they're missing"
I guess once we move past who we would prefer to move like Burrows because of his cap hit or Higgins and Burrows then there are likely more possible trading partners.
Just happy to hear a rumour. And glad to hear that Benning talks to most of the other teams as much as twice a week. Which likely means that when there is a trade, we won't hear rumblings from other clubs that they never knew that player was available like CH. |

He is a 40 pt. player and is usually around 20 goals don't sell him short. I would ask for a first next year or a 2015 2nd and a decent D prospect |

Mostly because that 2nd line is a patchwork of guys who can play like 2nd liners sometimes, and 3rd liners other times |

Higgins on a team like Pittsburgh, with actual stars, would be good player for a playoff run. Depth in the post season is important. Hell Justin Williams and Higgy had similar numbers last year and Williams won the Conn Smyth. |

Let's not understimate the value of Higgins cap hit. Vonino has amung the best contracts in the league. |

Yes because it is solid asset management to get rid of a useful player for a used heroine needle. High asking price but that's what I would ask |

This is my thinking as well. Exactly the type of player teams will be looking at |

I don't think he is a bad player, I just don't think we would get a huge return for him. I don't see any team giving up a first rounder or a top prospect for him.
I don't see him going to Boston for Krug. |

You have a very very selective memory??
Panthers have qualified for the post season twice in the past 16 years.
The Islanders haven't won a playoff series in 23 years and only made the playoffs twice in the past ten years. Five times in 20 years. - LeftCoaster

Meh, Higgins is a better player then Gaustad or Erat. Look at those returns
Higgins alone isn't enough for krug. |

Sure, he is a depth guy, and is not going to get you top tier assets. I think at the very best he returns a future 1st from a contender, but that doesn't mean you just dump him for a 3rd. Part of maximizing his value is pushing for those little extra pieces that could turn into a Rielly Smith |

And he has consistency in his favour. He plays a workhorse style that teams will like. Swiss army knife |

We have a team of mostly third liners , and all have been asked to play out of position on the second line and first.
Higgins Burrows Kassian Hansen Matthias Jensen Vey all have third line numbers. Pick two or three and move the rest and get proper top 6
