I think a lot of people are underestimating Kapanen too. The kid has elevated his game in Finland and he looked solid during training camp. His size and skillset actually reminds me of a Taylor hall type player. I'd like to see the pens trade for someone like perron and next year you potentially have:
Kap-sid-horn
Perron-malkin-kuni
Bennett-sutter-dupuis

This is if everyone is healthy, but that's a solid top 9 IMO

If sutter plays second line he can produce higher numbers than he is. Not saying Hall wouldn't produce more, but is it worth it do kill the bottom 6 to strengthen the top 6? We finally have good depth when healthy and now everyone wants to trade it away for a top winger. Crosby and geno are going to produce and make the others around them produce as well. Maybe not as much as Hall could, but I would rather have 4 lines than 2. Ring a bell penguins fans? Oh and losing maatta would be big too don't forget that.

Dumoulin plus a 2nd and next years 3rd. Dumoulin has done nothing but up his value since he has been called up. Not sure if you knew this but perron has only scored 50+ points twice in his career. He's a good top 6 winger but he is not as good as everyone makes him out to be. I wouldn't do perron for sutter straight up

- znagle

Sutter is a fine player but he's a 3rd line center you're talking about a 23 year old elite winger who's eclipsed 80 pts. Sutter isn't even the part I'd be upset about losing.

That top 9 is charmin soft as Koby Bryant would say.

Too many assumptions and things have to go right also...

Kap - ready to play
Perron - we can acquire him
Kunitz - he is still a capable top 6
BB - why do we even talk about his at this point? He'll be hurt again I'm sure.
Duper - he may retire

Sutter is great on the draws, plays every situation and is only a third center because he's stuck behind geno and sid.. But yeah sure lets sell the barn so we can have a 2 line team again for the next 6 years

Add Foligno to Sid's line. Foligno, Sid, Horny. That will be tough to stop.

I agree about counting on Kap.

Kap was the 6th or 9th best prospect in the draft last year. He will be solid, he is already having a great year overseas

I just read an interesting article about one player every team should trade.

I would be interested in the bold players that could actually happen, there's a few like simmonds and brown I feel won't ever happen (especially simmonds coming here on a trade)

I just listened to Mike Lange's goal calls from last night, and he had some great ones, especially on Rust's goal.

If I was Bryan Rust (or Dumoulin), I would have that goal call as my ringtone for a long time.

His call of Letang's last minute tying goal the other night is a classic too.

That's why I said a perron like player, and Kapanen is a top 6 player or bust. he was quite close to making the roster this year, but they had the luxury of giving him another year to develop in Finland. The AHL will be pointless for him next year and the pens will be setting him up for success by playing him with sid. Kunitz will still be a top 6 guy for a few more years. Duper will not retire unless they find more issues, but it appears he will be able to play by the postseason or next year

I was watching Game 4 of the Pens/Hawks last night on NHL classics. Steigy was doing the color for Lange and Errey was on the ice, viewing/listening to the game worked much better that way.

I love how Megan got sent down and Farnham comes up and has an instant impact. Players like Megna should never be an NHL option. Without Farnham and Downie we lose that game last night.

Agreed. Throw Sill in there too IMO for the "never again" list.

But, lets see how they are doing 10 games from now.

Megna flashed at times too early on.

Loved that game. One of my all-time favs. High scoring. Hasek was great. Pens firing on all cylinders. Old Chi stadium rocking.

Bennett officially has the mumps.

I'm really concerned with Maatta's shoulder. That's a really tough, potentially long term injury. If he was healthy, I would easily package him with a first and Spaling to get Hall.

I forgot Dirk Graham had a first period trick. Hasek was unreal, that game could have been 15-5.

So much firepower.

I'd love for pouliot to get a shot with the big club. Seeing him play could either boost his trade value, or allow maatta to be traded. If ehrhoff is resigned, the club has letang, ehrhoff, maatta, and despres who could handle PP time, and pouliot becomes unnecessary

I've been giving Scuds a bunch of $hit so far but he seems better every game ,he's making better passes out of our zone and better on PK. Maybe we can move him eventually?

Steigy also said something when they were skating the Cup around that got me thinking.

He said something like "How about Jagr, 2 years in the league and a 2 time Stanley Cup Champion"

First 2 years- 2 cups

20 years (NHL seasons) since- none.

It's true what they say, when you get there enjoy it because you never know when you'll get back.

Farnham has played just a few games. Megna had some flashes too. Let's not act like Farnham can keep up in this league after two freaking games.
He isn't an offer dive guy and he isn't going to bring me check other than speed and tenacity. That might be good now, but it isn't a winning formula.

The new system is a blessing for Scuds. He's been killing penalties like an animal. Would still like to upgrade that spot but he's much better this year than he was last year.
