Or you may find it funny to laugh at everyone's proposals hoping that the Oil will magically turn it around at some point. How inept is your front office that they screw up having that many 1st overall picks? Embarrassing. - GaryLazerEyes
Yes I agree, the management must be embarrassed.... your point? |

bad culture is something you are labeled when you lose. Case and point Leafs lose 3 games in a row and the culture/core is in question.
Yet they win 9 and a row and they have amazing chemistry.
The word chemistry also pisses me off, when is the last team you've seen a bad team be labeled a team with 'good chemistry'
chemistry comes with W's, that's it. - Lee Denault
Chemistry is between the players they know where each other are on the ice... That's chemistry in a nutshell...
Hall and Eberle have chemistry, why? Because they have played together for like the past 5 years.. |

of course Marchand and Krug can't get Hall.
Oilers are going to need a kings ransom if they do trade him(which I don't think they should) and someone out there will be happy to oblige them I'm sure.
Might have to wait until the offseason though. |

Why are you in here ragging on us about it? We all know their ineptitude. It's well travelled territory. There is nothing remotely new or special in your insight. None of us here had any say in how they've built it. I don't get what guys like you are after with posts like that. |

Anything other than a genuine top pairing defender is not enough. If they happen to get that 1st overall, Id honestly rather see them try and parley it into say, OEL, rather than bank on Macdavid. |

The thing is that we never really know because we aren't on the team, and we actually have no clue about the true "culture". Also, it can't be measured. But that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Look at the Red Wings, how do you think they always have good teams? Their culture breeds success, you can't deny that. And this doesn't just apply to the players, it applies to the coaches, the gm, the scouts, the training staff, everyone. - The-O-G
WTF? Did you seriously just completely contradict yourself like that? " We don't know cause we don't play on the team and can't measure it". You don't play for the wings, can't measure it but it has to exist because they have won for a really, really long time. |

One GM was the guy who traded Lindros. His hand may have been forced but he still got a retarded amount of value in return. |

Indeed. I know this is hard to hear but Oilers fans just need to be patient now. The playoffs aren't happening. If MacT can get an honest effort out of this group its a start and they can go from there. At least with him in their locker room every game he can see first hand what guys are like and it should help his decision making decisions in the near future.
I still wouldn't trade Hall if I were them. I'd build around him with different players. A big (frank) you Center to open up some space for him and an actual top pairing Dman. Oh and a Goalie. Its not going to happen over night but they have the pieces to make this happen if they are wise about it. |

The Lindros return was way more than just OEL. If McDavid got us OEL and a combination of Gormley / Samuelsson / Domi and obviously Dubnyk, then they may go for it. |

More difficult than usual with every GM in the league lowballing every move they attempt.
I don't know if patience solves a thing. This team with this core has never really looked like a winner. They do fine with teams that decide to play firewagon hockey but any game played tight, they look lost and confused. I honestly don't think this team has been constructed right.
At this point, Id rather see it sanitized from the very top down, at least before any big personnel decisions are made. This group has simply proven themselves incapable of building a team. |
