What the (frank) are you talking about? Mac T WAS a good coach. Not sure why you are disputing this ......
- Jeropotato

Whoa- his coaching strategies were far from perfect- but he had a team willing to work or at least had players willing to get dirty and work which gave him results that went against the grain (2006 SCF)- but how long ago was that??? When was he last coaching and what was his record- further most large organizations rarely bring back old recycled goods... cept for the oilers...

Eakins brought his wife to the presser this morning. Threatened the media that if it got ugly she'd be running in to save him!!! hahaha

Love how presser's start in Oil Country

Basically saying to the fans "be patient"

New GM means 5 years to build. Be Patient

Yeah, he started talking down to fans about how we need to be patient and that if a new gm came in they would need 5 more years

Some patience, yes, I'll agree, which fans were doing, UNTIL the roster than he coaches decided to poop themselves once again.

What a Richard.

At least he addressed the fans (in his own way). Katz sent a letter and MacT ignored you guys until the building caught fire. Lowe... is he even alive?

He had to take the high road...... he could be back coaching one day.

I'm pretty sure after last time they will never let Lowe step on front of another microphone or camera. They probably disconnected the phone and Internet in his office as well just to be safe. Pretty sure all he does now is play Legos with Jr Katz all day long.

He shouldn't have been hired to an immediate HC position.

I think the biggest thing we need to see as fans is MacT to make efficient moves. I think the easiest thing he could've done very recently was to claim Chipchura off waivers.

I guess... Eakins (if this experience hasn't killed his career too) was chosen because he HAD some success in the A. In fact there was a number of teams interested. Were he in Florida, Arizona, Carolina, would he have the same level of scrutiny as he did in Edmonton? Hell he was a part of the Toronto hockey climate and you need to have a set to even attempt that. He'll coach again, probably not in the NHL, at least not for a while.

I was skeptical about Eakins. I began to support him this season. I think he is the wrong scape goat.

But good for Eakins for saying what he thinks.

I think if Eakins had a veteran core to lean on he could be a good coach. But a young coach is gonna make mistakes but when you have a young group of guys who are making mistakes as well it just makes it 100x worse.

The way it goes in oil country, Eakins will probably end up being GM in about 4 years.

Did we have a decent veteran core? Debatable. Pittsburgh brought in a very solid veteran core to help their young players. Look how well it's worked for them.

Edmonton has had a terrible run of bad decisions and bad luck. Something has to give and hopefully give soon.

I think Eakins can succeed, but he needs to have better quality to his disposal.

Like I said before. At the time that they hired Eakins I thought it was the wrong move. They had Kreuger in place already and they should of promoted Todd Nelson at that time to be his assistant. Then they could of grabbed Laxdale to be the OKC coach. It really would of driven home the point of how we are committed to development all through out our system. But we dropped that ball and here we are. I will say though that they had to fire Eakins based off principle, you just can't continue on with the way things were going. After MacT last presser though I really thought that they were gonna stick with him which I thought was the right message to deliver to the players and some much needed consistency. Now with Eakins gone we are really in a state of transition. I hope MacT goes into this open minded about any possible moves. No one is safe. Anybody either won't or can't meet expectations they should be replaced.

All I was saying is if he was coaching a more proven veteran team I don't think people would be talking about how bad of a coach he is. His mistakes were amplified because of the mistakes our players consistently make.
