Substitute Hodgson for Foligno?
I only included for Foligno because of the talk earlier that Edm wanted to "Beef up" up front.
The first can be substituted for Enroth or Neuiverth.
Myers, Hodgson, Enroth/Neuiverth?
Not sure what deal would be closer? - ImThatGuy
Absolute crap. He was a healthy scratch last week. Worthless. |

Neither Neuvirth nor Enroth are proven upgrades on what we have. Remeber when Dubnyk had a .920 sv % on Edmonton? Yeah, I doubt either Enroth or Neuvirth's run lasts more than a season or two (if that).
And god no to Hodgson. He's neither two-way, nor is he 2C as far as I'm concerned. Sorry, I guess I didn't make my real point clear; I just don't see the pieces needed to acquire Hall on Buffalo. Even if you were to offer Ristolainen (which I can't see happening), I struggle to see a deal being worked out. |

I just don't think they move Hall unless its for a true established top pairing guy. Myers would be on their top pairing but across the league, is he that stud teams want to build around? IF he really is why would you guys want to move him. I just don't think hes the Dman that temps them in a Hall deal. - DDM-Coga
Myers would probably develop into that guy on a deeper team. |
|
|
|
Look at how good the Islanders got after they acquired Boychuk and Leddy. Hamhuis is better than both those guys and Tanev is a very solid and underrated defenseman. Horvat is that 2C you need and Kassian is just a great depth guy to have.
I know Hall is the best player you guys have and one of the best wingers in the game but there was a team before him and will be a team after him... - rangerdanger94
Where does this idea that Horvat is a #2 center already come from? |

Thats how I see him, a good number 3 man on most teams. Rangers could be a landing spot for him. McDonagh Myers future pairing would be great once Girardi starts to break down with all he tough minutes he has logged and with Staal probably leaving this summer |

now that Dreger has tweeted about Hall trade, its probably never going happen. He has been way off with his analysis of Oilers trade value with all his Yakupov Reimer Gardiner talk for the last 2 season |

Hall trade could be considered to change culture and acquire much needed assets.
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger 20m20 minutes ago
I'm surprised this has generated such a reaction. Oilers need help in so many areas. Everything must be considered.
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger 18m18 minutes ago
...Now, if Hall proves to MacTavish and Nelson he is unquestionably part of the solution on and off the ice longterm, then no sense trading.
Haha his mentions must have been going crazy filled with people chirping at him |

Where does this idea that Horvat is a #2 center already come from? - Ihatebrianburke
His 60.4% faceoff percentage would place him second in the entire NHL behind only Manny Malhotra if he had taken enough faceoffs to qualify.
It’s basically unheard of for a 19-year-old to be that good at faceoffs. Malhotra himself won just 43.9% of his faceoffs when he entered the league as an 18-year-old, and won 44.7% in his next season. It takes time to learn all the tricks of the trade and know the tendencies of other centres in the NHL. The youngest centres in the top-10 in faceoffs this season are Jonathan Toews and Claude Giroux, who are both 26.
He currently has the lowest offensive zone start percentage on the team, as he starts the majority of his shifts in the defensive zone. Despite that, the Canucks have actually out-shot their opposition with Horvat on the ice.
He's had a good start and hockey people are noticing. |

So did I miss any DERP today?
It's funny, Eakins got fired, and the Oilers still most likely suck.
Most encouraging thought from today has to be Mac T getting behind the bench. Not because he's a good coach ( he was an excellent coach) but because now he can really see what these guys are all about. IF there is a culture issue in that locker room , Mac T will have a great opportunity to sniff out the source, and hopefully, make changes. |

He has only taken 170 face-offs, good for 130th some in the league versus a guy like Sutter who is a 2C and has taken 540 face-offs..manny with 530 face-offs.
Lapierre has a .02% better win percentage than him and they have taken the same amount of draws, so shouldn't Lappy be 2nd in the league
Sorry missed your if he could qualify part, but 170 draws isn't a lot of draws 30 games into the season |

Scotty Bowman was fired twice, doesn't make him a bad coach. Mac T stepped down because at the time he felt that after 9 years he was getting stale and the team was going through a rebuild (part 1).
He did coach a bunch of plumbers to game 7 of the SC finals, but you probably weren't following the team back then to remember it was system play and team defence that got them there. |

Yes, I know. But he's still a 60% centre at such a young age.
In back-to-back games (Anaheim and Chicago), playing against two of the best two-way centres in the game (Toews and Kesler), Horvat thrived scoring 4 points in 2 games and winning 22-of-30 faceoffs!
He's going to be a top two-way player. No doubt about it. |

I think he will be good, but not someone I want in return for Hall. I read a few of the offers, very few are more than a poor low ball offer so far. |
