Speed kills and we are having trouble matching up against fast teams.
Just trying to understand why Sestito was recalled from Utica and his conditioning stint?
The team really needs a trade to switch it up a bit. - hillbillydeluxe

Edler, Hansen Lack for Eberle and Petry - Bieksa#3
The tough part of any move we make is most of the players of value have ntc's. I think I would rather move Bieksa than Edler but either way it would just be nice to move a ntc.
Wonder if WD or Benning spoke to Hank and asked him, "what can the org do to help you guys (top line) be successful?" What would the response be?
a pmd
b move Dany to second line, need another scoring winger on top line
c bring back Raymond and some speed to the lineup
d more offensive zone faceoffs |

D Sedin
H Sedin
Vrbata
Burrows

Hansen
Edler
Bieksa
Hamhuis
Miller
These players have NTC so no use including any of them in trade proposals.
The draft and free agency is where Benning will rebuild this team. |

Garrison had a NTC and Benning still moved him, I don't see it as a HUGE issue because some of them are limited clauses.
Except the Sedins, which I don't see them ever waiving, they'll retire as Canucks, as they should. |

We should trade Edler for prospects, or a gritty dman that doesn't brain cramp 3 times a game. Although he is the sedins boyfriend his crap puck management needs to be done away with.
Instead of signing a decent 2nd liner we signed miller. How good would Stastny be right now.....
Why does no one drop the mitts when we get humped......BXA did it once and now he is good for the season?
Honeymoon is over - we need to win 5 in a row. Beat the Californian teams, and cream Detroit.

Right meow Tanev is our best D. His value is the highest. I don't know if I would move him at this point unless its for a "Legitimate" top 6 winger in evolved in the deal. I think however moving him depletes our depth at the back end. I haven't seen a player his age with as much patience in his own end as well as his first pass capability. |

We have a scoring winger Vrbata, somewhere someone has to see Danny has 6 goals and that is flat out third line goals . |

Is that because Hamhuis is injured?
When Hamhuis is playing, he's our best dman. By miles and miles. |

Tanev needs to be signed long-term ASAP IMO. If you move him Edler becomes our youngest top 4 d-man at 28. I hate to be the negative guy, but Subban, Corrado, Tryamkin, Hutton is one of the weakest groups of prospect d-men in the league so trading Tanev is a no-no.

Hamhuis is 32 though, by the time we're ready to contend I doubt he'll still be playing at that level. |

All true but it makes it way more difficult to trade these players to teams that are struggling (seen a few trade proposals for edmonton players). Unless the situation is perfect I just don't see these players making it easy on Benning.

Trade freeze Thursday. Showcase Wednesday - VANTEL
Who are we showcasing? It would have been nice to see Hansen play well with the Sedins then move him but nobody has been looking very good over this last little stretch. I have liked the 3rd line at times but looking at the stats for the team, the +/- of the Richardson and Horvat lines are terrible.
Something has to give or we will soon be out of the playoff race. Which isn't so bad if we can improve our drafting position.
I want to make the playoffs, but if we just barely get in then I don't see this team as being much of a threat like the 94 team. |

We need more scoring. Nobody from Utica can come in and be expected to produce so we need a trade to acquire or see more scoring by committee which can happen for little stretches but can't be relied upon... see Higgins.
I think I am agreeing with you. We need a trade. We need more speed and scoring and and, just waiting on Benning. |

I see a lot of similarities like last year. I think we are climbing in the same rabbit hole.
Top line goal scoring is dropping . Confused D.Injuries and no one to fill in. Players are slower and older. |

It's just balancing out. Most thought this was a middle of the pack team so after a hot start it's not shocking too see them hit a rough patch. I would be shocked if this team has a collapse as bad as last year's. |

Burrows hasn't bounced back and Vrbata has produced a little but then Daniel isn't scoring either.
Would like to see the Sedins split up even strength and together on the pp for a little stretch anyways. Not sure if that would be taken as a sign of desperation but something has to give.
The speedy teams really give us fits and I guess no amount of line juggling is going to change that either.

I wouldn't suggest collapse. I agree we had a great start but mostly against non playoff teams. We played excellent against some big teams , but I think we are starting to level off. We are an older team and a soft team so as other teams start hitting their stride I think we will drop.
I dont think we will drop to bottom 5 but I do think we will just miss the PO and that is a stupid spot to end. Either resolve the problem now or prepare your plan to finish higher in the pecking order (tank) |

I hate that trade.....but it is probably close to even value. Still I don't think this team can afford to move Edler. |
