Well it is a kids book so there are definitely some areas where the story itself is inconsistent but that whole scene with the melting of the gold and whatnot was really just Peter Jackson showing everyone his big computer generated cock and eating up enough time to justify three movies

I don't remember reading about Sauron in the Hobbit but I guess that is for the 5 armies build up.

Just think of how much they shot to be able to have all those extended special editions after.

Yep I can't stand all the chase scenes that apparently are imitations of a Donkey Kong level. They could have done it in 2 movies and made it far more serious. I watched the first LOTR when I was 9 and I (frank)ing loved it. No need to intentionally pander to kids, they can recognize quality
