But I think MM deserves to be in the lineup over Brad Chunt.

Geez, you're more than a year late to that party. This is Lowe's mess. I like MacT but knew the day he was hired that a rookie GM was totally wrong for this Team; then he hires a rookie coach, then he's surprised he can't make good trades? The position that he won't trade any of the "core" was/is bizarre. Now their values are going down so that's going to make it even more difficult to get needed pieces in return if the actually DO come to the realization that the rebuild must be rebuilt.
The Oilers scouting staff have been horrible for 20 years which further illustrates organizational incompetence.
MacT & Lowe might be pissed off, but that has as much to do with their own incompetence as it does with Team play.

Even as a fan of another team, I feel disgusted by the Oilers management and their methods. This has to be one of the worst treatment of fans in the history of the sport.

How would they step in? The oilers aint the only team throwing in the towel with the future in mind. Recent offseasons have proven that the oilers are not a destination for free agents and that the oilers hve to overpay for mediocre free agents. I am gonna come off as a troll with this next part but hey, its reality. Edm is a great hockey town, like all canada. but its cold and lacks the same draws as most every other nhl city. the team is poor, the weather sucks. why sign there when you could sign in a city more to the south and have the [pleasure of playing in edmonton as a visiting team that gets to head back south in january after a day or two. extra money and the chance to win are the only things that will counteract this. until then, getting high picks and star power though the draft is the only real strategy.
