Honestly I wonder if we just try be bad enough to guarantee us a top pick and then clean house.
The other issue is if a management change was to happen, do we do it now or just wait until the summer when there are better candidates?
Coaching change can happen at least with an interim coach of Ramsay or someone like Byslma/Murray. - Lahey
This is what I am wondering- does all this poop happen at the end of the year or in January? And I am talking everyone- this team cant keep staying the same - coaching management etc- the entire organization needs retooling- and to top that off we have players that are obviously tuning basic expectations of a player off... Our vets cant even complete a simple pass out of the zone anymore- it was just sad to watch last night- nothing clicked and we are what 31 games into the season0- FFS Nuge and Hall now are on different pages... how pathetic... |

Not if the seats continue to empty. Edmonton fans have been as loyal as any fan base could reasonably be expected to but they have a limit. I suspect season ticket sales will fall as well. Katz will pay attention to the bottom line, even if it means he has to fire Lowe and MacT and throw out his 88 Stanley Cup winners lunch box. - TheTaoOfSemenko
I hope this. And I hope people continue to stop going to games. |

hi - -davies-
Hello Dave.
I attempted to have a conversation with a rather curious crow on my back deck yesterday. I cawed at him and he seemed intrigued. Then I threw out my banana and he yelled at me and flew away. |

I say do it now and just have an interim guy. - Oilfan19
Seems a bit scary to do that. I mean with MacT we know he'll probably do little, but an interim guy could start moving pieces just to prove he has the balls to do something. |

I think the big wild card is Babcock. Is he ready to become a GM and if so is that who Nicholoson wants? |

I say wait for the off season. This season is a write off. Play it out and then dismantle everything. I mean everything. Seriously, could it get much worse? |

I agree... but time will tell... that media interview done by MacT didnt really reveal any strategic plan to dig this team out of anything... we are in the same ruts we were in the previous years- only deeper- yet now our payroll is near the ceiling and the youth of tomorrow is wasting away... Like send Leon to junior and not waste the entire year... also another telling quote/question from last night- forget who said it on twitter but it made sense- "How many players have progressed in the last 2 years?" |

So we had a few busts, just like everyone. Do a little research. Oh yeah, I'm sure they busted on purpose. How ignorant are you to believe that. We've had plenty of good draft picks.
Chris Butler
Nathan Gerbe
Jhonas Enroth
Mike Weber
Paul Byron
Tyler Myers
Tyler Ennis
Luke Adam
Zack Kassian
Brayden McNabb
Marcus Foligno
Mark Pysyk
Joel Armia
Nathan Lieuwen
There's a list of quality draft picks between our supposed awful on purpose drafting years. Yeah, I'm sure we drafted badly on purpose. Do you hear yourself? - TheSabresTaco
This list is barely better than The Oilers over that time span, and that's not including our 1st overalls.

Yaks defensive game?? |

If they get 1st overall pick again, I say dangle it and let the bidding war develop. This team needs a true top flight dman far more than they need another forward, however talented he may be. |

U think the Oilers have touched base with Babcock a little already? cause that cant be the only plan- can it? What is the likelihood he would even want to come to Edmonton? |

I wonder if we would get Lindros type value- that is if we even got the 1st |

defensive game has definitely improved- but he has no confidence offensively anymore and I would have rather had offense opposed to defense- currently Yak is viewed as a bust cause at the end of the day- who gives a (frank) about +/-... its your points that matter... |

I would look at changing the coach. Something needs to be done and not just for the fans sake, but for the players. How can you just give up in November and not do anything to give your current players hope. |

I don't know that they can touch base, but I'm sure Babcock isn't an idiot and can see what is happening here.
As for the likelihood who knows. Babcock wants something that Detroit isn't ready to offer, so if you sit down and tell him he can have whatever job he wants then maybe he comes.
I'm sure there are other candidates that will pop up as well. |

That's absolutely scary. Is Mac T not making moves because he's afraid to or because the trades are simply not good ones to make? A new guy can come in like some big shot blow hard and make knee jerk trades that placate the masses , but actually suck?
The goal has to remain building an eventual contender. Should we be so eager for moves that make us a playoff team but no better than The Wild or Blue Jackets(2013)?
It's a fair question. |

They could. Macdavid as a draft pick is up in that echelon. |
