There was a Leaf fan who ran afoul of the establishment that would go on 30 page rants about how Jake Gardiner was the worst defenseman in the world (well...he had a point there) and Bozak was as good as Toews if not better. You could try reasoning, you could try placating, you could try ridiculing, you could try anything and it didn't matter. He had become one with his opinion. Fanaticism leads to dark places.

On that argument yes. If you're talking burn, well...he'd argue that the sun was green if you said it was yellow.

I don't know if Florida would want to trade for that pick. They have tons of high end youth there. SJ, PHI, NJ, CAR, BUF are the teams I could seriously see having enough desire to pony up the cost to get the pick.

ive ran into a few posters where nothing works. logic, rationality, ridiculing, attacking etc.

opinions are just that. opinions. but some people are just completely unable to see reason when it comes to the team they love or the team they hate. its kinda crazy actually

but u get an owner who sees value in a Crosby over oel, and it might just be a move they make.

and just for argument sake; pho has some defensive depth, while scoring is their biggest problem. but even more importantly than that point, or even the making money part, is that an argument can definetly be made that a generational type forward can help u win hockey games every bit as much as a franchise defender. maybe more.

im on the side of building from the back out, but if connor mcdavid is what they say, players like him come along once every 10-15 years.

I think people fear objectivity because it requires emotional detachment and a reflection on self worth for the insecure.

Yeah I could kinda see a team making a pitch like that, I see more of the teams going for the rebuild aspect of a player like that.

im obviously referring to the non hockey fans. and those are the people, or the ones kinda on the fence anyway, that u grow the market with and put more azzes in the seats.
and even to the casual fan, I wonder how much they appreciate Larsson? he doesn't play a phenomenally dynamic game. a wonderful player at both ends and at so many nuances of the game, but do lots of first timers go to see him?? doubt it. ive even argued with regular posters here on how good he is.

disclaimer; this is all guess work, I truly have no idea how one grows the sport in these non traditional marketa. especially if youre a losing franchise.

even me. im a pretty avid fan, but im also im a brokeazz student that cant afford going to games in Vancouver.
but outside of edm games (which are pretty much the only games I ever go to give or take), id consider spending some extra cash to see Crosby or ovechkin when they come to town over spending 2 bills to go see oel.

and I like oel as a player more than either.

did I just realize that ima slave to marketing just like everyone else??

I just do me. I'm not afraid to look stupid in the real world either, it's how we learn. People are seemingly too afraid to look at themselves from an outside perspective sometimes and the internet should be the place that allows them to do it without worry of how they look.

I'm sick of paying for hockey, I have almost as much fun watching beer league hockey if you compare costs and whatnot. Obviously you miss all the sick plays and big hits but you still get to see guys score some nice goals and it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg.

the cost is ridiculous in Vancouver.
its only special occasions for me. once or twice a year when the oil come to town, or maybe a buddies bday or something.

if u go to the game with the boys, its generally dinner and some drinks before the game, drinks at the game, out on the town after the game, cabs etc.
with the ticket included its like a $300-400 dollar night.
sh1t, too rich for my blood until I get a real job. even then I wont think that's reasonable.

i play some beer league, but i don't watch much. but itd be worth the price of admission to watch this one cement head we have our squad. just a total plug Neanderthal that think hes bob probert. funny stuff watching him goon it up and give 100% in games no one actually cares about.
