I think you and I both know that McDavid is different.
I like Hall. But let's face it, he's not a franchise player. RNH I could take or leave, and he's no franchise player either.
Yak makes me want to yak. Not insulting your player, just not a fan.
All three should have gone back for at least a year.
Hindsight, blah blah blah, I know.
I'm not touting Reinhart as anything right now, so don't think I am, but the Sabres were smart enough to see the kid, for all his skill and vision, and high draft status, wasn't ready. The sexy choice would have been to keep him here. Murray made the very difficult, but correct, choice to send him back. - grand-magus

I don't know why you're laughing.
What's the argument against sending them back? It certainly isn't the success the Oilers have had. |

not being connor mcdavid doesn't make someone not ready for the show.
hell, kane or stamkos werent mcdavid at that age.
hall is a great player and no one can convince me he shoulda went back. he has back to back top ten in scoing by 22 years old!
nuge is developing nicely. hes done more at his age than many of the best centers in the game at the same age.
but they shouldn't have been fed to the wolves so quickly...
and ill agree that connor mcdavid might be truly generational. maybe hes the type of player that can actually change it |

If you wouldn't mind, just for conversations sake, who was the last 1st overall draft pick that spent an extra year in juniors? |

Or he may be massively skilled, but unable to change the situation around him. Crosby came in and made everyone around him better. Can Macdavid do that? Perhaps. |

it was a silly post imo. I aint trying to be a dik, but none of them were in over their heads as a rook.
1st overalls almost never are.
again, they had no insulation or help. that was the problem.
truth be told. if I were gm and we get the 1 pick; I go straight to the southern markets that need to put azzes in the seats and try and make a deal. (Arizona, Carolina, florida etc etc)
"heres a Crosby type talent that u can market ur franchise around".
and I try and rape them ala lindros |

Probably no one in the last 10 years, at least.
However, if you're not going to surround them with good vets, what's the point in keeping them here? |

so this.
hes literally the name that comes to mind first.
a rare opportunity to grab a franchise defender and prob one of the only markets that might actually do it.
and I don't stop there.......hanzal and Samuelsson. maybe we'll throw something in to make them feel better |

Anyway, I'm out. 3am here in the east.
Seriously, thanks for the intelligent conversation. It's nice to come into another team's boards and not be insulted just because I root for another team.
Take care. |

He makes a number of moves possible. For me, however good Macdavid is, a true stud defender does Edmonton more good. |

this is the rational, logical train of thought.
its hard not to get excited about a Crosby type, but that defender is what we need so badly.
and u just know we can add a quality centermen and maybe some functional grit along with it.
we're a better team through this than with Sidney Crosby.
and of course, he may not be crosbyesque at all.....
this takes the pressure of the franchise for nurse to turn into that as well. we're so desperate for him to become that because we have no other way of acquiring one really.
but this way, we can happily wait the multiple seasons it would take even if he did reach that level, as well as be reasonably happy if didn't and instead just turned into a mean 2/3 that can make an impact |

I don't know if Florida would want to trade for that pick. They have tons of high end youth there. SJ, PHI, NJ, CAR, BUF are the teams I could seriously see having enough desire to pony up the cost to get the pick. |

Why did all you Oilers fans tank this season? Why did you guys do it? You're the problem! Not the team! Why didn't you draft better!?
