2 Scoring Centers
2 scoring Wingers
1 checking Center
1 Checking Winger of quality
1 Stud 1st pair D-man
2 quality top 4 D-men
1 offensive D man
1 quality starting goalie
Pretty much the rest of the roster can be filled with depth players, AHL'ers and flawed NHL players ( old, rookies, defensive liabilities, 1 demensional, etc).

I'm gonna throw names in just to better articulate my point.

I honestly don't think Arizona would trade OEL for that entire package or it would be very close. Young defenders like that aren't worth trading away.

EDIT: Not that I don't think it's an overpayment or fair value. I just think they would rather have the young stud then our package.

This was suppose to be a good year and I think I have never been more disappointed in the Oilers as this year.

None taken. I didn't run this team into the ground.

MacT was given a poop roster and he is expected to turn it around over night. Tambellini traded so many NHL players for picks and none of our prospects turned into anything so we essentially had nothing to trade for roster players.

BTW an expansion team would wipe their ass with us.

I would trade Eberle, Schultz, Marincin and a so-so prospect like Moroz or J Khaira and a 2nd for Yandle and Hanzal.
I would also trade Nail Yakupov and Viktor Fasth( or Scribbins) for ( soon to be UFA)Marc Methot and Craig Anderson and maybe a bottom 6 forward.
Send Petry to Philly for Matt Read.
Trade a 2nd and a prospect for Mike Richards.

im not convinced eakins is the right guy by any means. were losing and cant win, so if they wanna make a move fine. but make a drastic philosophy change.
and at this point, im convinced we're better than maybe 3 teams on paper. (and that's not taking into account that our core never learnt to win, hold leads, go to the tough areas etc) so we're really not that far off of where we should be most likely. maybe abit, but we don't have a top pairing dman. our center depth is atrocious. our goaltending is hit or miss from game to game etc

I like the idea of getting Anderson and Methot from Ottawa but I think Yak is an overpayment unless they throw in a younger roster player like Zach Smith or something.

At the end of the day what we need is a culture change and 1 goalie and 1 defender and we would be sniffing the playoffs instead of deciding on McDavid or Eichel.
