so here is a question, will the Flyers be allowed to trade Pronger next year to a team that needs to reach the floor being his salary now drops?

they need to worry about that secondary before the QB. Remember when the secondary was a real strength? been such garbage since.

They can't cut Nate Allen fast enough for me.

I agree, except for Jenkins. I have just one thought, continuing all game long to try and cover Dez Bryant one on one, may not have been such a great idea.

Good question. I'll be non-comittal and say maybe.

Not the best game plan. Davis claims they doubled Bryant most of the game but certainly didn't look like it on tv

It would just make it slightly easier to deal with the cap in the off season, and coming out of training camp. It really wouldn't be worth giving up a solid asset to do so.

One coverage they just completely let him go.
I mean no Eagle was near him when he caught it.

That secondary was awful last night.

We need a new blog.

Eagles are toast.

well honestly I can see the Colts beating Dallas in Dallas next week. that is more likely than Detroit losing to Chicago and GB. GB is a given but Chicago stinks

Just finished reading Tim's blog and almost stormed out of there before reading the comments on the message board that really hit the mark.

I think it's unlikely Morin reaches the Chris Pronger status in terms of play on the ice but I also think can still cross our fingers. While I truly believe Travis Sanheim is more likely to develop into a true number one, they could become a true number one pair starting at this World Juniors, which I'll be watching closely if I can. With this said as well, it took a little while for Zdeno Chara to become what he is today. He wasn't am impact guy right away as an Islander and was in Wade Redden's shadow (if this is even possible) near the beginning of his career as a Senator. I do buy into Travis Sanheim and Samuel Morin becoming one of the best pairs in the NHL down the road.

Another interesting thought is Robert Hagg. Total wild card here. We know Shyne Gostisbehere could be the next Mark Streit, on what level will Hagg max out? These four remind me of the Rangers top four.

With Voracek, BSchenn, Couturier, Raffl, and Coburn needing new contracts after 2015-16, that might be one of the options they have to explore to make everything fit.

the voracek contract could be scary

not sure if I can picture coburn coming back after this contract... he will likely want a raise and that may be more then they want to pay for him, but I'm really not sure

Where do you draw the bare minimum on Voracek's next contract, $7.5m maybe? There may not be enough dollars to go around, and Coburn may be the odd man out. Hextall's got plenty of work to do over the next two years.

Moving Pronger isn't really going to make anything easier in terms of re-signing any of those players.

I have no idea on Voracek, it scares me how high that one could go.

7.5M seems high though.

If he continues to be a leading scorer in the NHL, I don't think that $7.5m will seem high.

It won't affect tagging space? He'll still have one year remaining on his contract.

I was thinking along the lines that any trade of Pronger would occur in the off season, when tagging space isn't really an issue. If it was made during the season, it would help in terms of tagging space. It woluld also matter what off season it was made. So you''re correct, it could have the potential to help in terms of tagging space.

I was thinking more of a trade this coming offseason. I think it's a mute point, I don't think his contract is moved irregardless.

Either way, it would be a really interesting situation to see what the league would do, if it was attempted.

Agreed, I imagine Uncle Gary wouldn't be wild about it. But then, it's not unprecedented. The Islanders acquired Tim Thomas' contract (while he was taking his time off) to get above the cap floor and nothing happened.

Of course, Thomas' wasn't one of the frontloaded contracts, so maybe they see it differently.
