now that the flyers appear to be a 3 line team, do we feel better about playoffs? i know the xbox gms dont but as for everyone else...

not really. they need to sustain it, stay healthy, fix the pk, and have the team playing better team d, and the d playing better d when they really don't have a legit top 3 group. they have ground to make up. can they? yes? this month is really key. but even if they get through it with most of the available points, like i said, they need to sustain and cover some holes.

Nice win by the Phantoms over 1st place Pens... 2-1 in a shootout. Cousins with a slick forsbergian type move to seal the win. Stolarz with a monster 44 save effort.

Seems likely the Rangers will be claiming that spot. Could be a battle. Guess we'll have a much better feel for where things are in January. I'm not optimistic, and I'd really like a top pick this coming draft, but I'd love for the Flyers to turn it on and kick some ass. They just don't have the horses on D to run with the big clubs though.

they don't. and it's asking a lot from mason, who's been excellent, to be the miracle with that group in front of him. would it be great if they somehow turned into a cohesive squad and go on a run? sure. my point of view all along is if you're mediocre and going to miss, now is a really good time to miss spectacularly. nobody cares or remembers how bad the upper echelon teams were - they're top notch because of the top players they grabbed as a result.

they don't. and it's asking a lot from mason, who's been excellent, to be the miracle with that group in front of him. would it be great if they somehow turned into a cohesive squad and go on a run? sure. my point of view all along is if you're mediocre and going to miss, now is a really good time to miss spectacularly. nobody cares or remembers how bad the upper echelon teams were - they're top notch because of the top players they grabbed as a result.

I have to agree... for right now. Let's see them put together a few games like this against some mid level to upper echelon teams.

Right now we're in no mans land. Not bad enough to sink to the bottom. Not good enough to have a decent shot at a playoff spot.

I have high hopes for Stolarz. He's got some very nice tools to work with. Can't teach 6'6 220, and he's got the quickness and physical skills to go along with it.

Kid has the ability to be studly, and i think there's a very good chance he could be although that's a long ways away with Mase in the fold. Just get him that playing time he needs down in the AHL, no rush. Top 10 in SV% right now
