Oshie

I wanted him for years now... All of you said it would never happen...now it could. .

I got iggy, lost hemsky, can't get eberle, now my hopes are back for oshie... what a roller coaster

I'd take Oshie for the right price. He would be a solid top 6 winger on this team.

I would rather have Oshie, younger guy with less cap hit. Oshie is over-hyped and would also cost more. I'm not sure what it would take to get him honestly. All the typical trades we offer is what I'm guessing. Martin, prospects, picks combinations

- znagle

Hard to figure what Blues would want, other than their veteran scorers to start scoring more. Lots of depth, so can't see them trading for odds and ends.

Spector has this in his rumors today with Dreger shooting it down so doubt this is happening. Maybe offseason.

Only problem with Oshie is he would be expensive. Young player with term left on a decent contract.

I would be willing to role the dice on Oshie, but only if Dupuis is forced into retirement (which i hope does not happen) & thus off the Penguins Cap forever. The money & term are close enough that it would work well enough.

Still, I don't think the Penguins would be willing to pay the price the Blues would be asking for in return for Oshie. I'd probably be something like a 1st + Despres + Kapanen. Rather move Dumoulin for a young, comparable F & role with some cheap youth plus a solid FA W acquisition.

Anything around Dumoulin, Harrington, or Martin works for me....but again, dont St. Louis needing/wanting that.

I'd probably explore Rattie for Dumoulin first but I will say, overrated or not, I really like Oshie.

A [1st + a young roster player + a good prospect] is what the Blues would want for Oshie due to his age & contract term.

I wouldn't pay that price if I was the Penguins GM, but some team out there likely would & that is who the Pens would be bidding against.

I look forward to seeing what Pouliot can do once he gets his shot with the Penguins......

But man, i wish they would have drafted Forsberg. We wouldn't be talking about trading for a winger right now.

Supposedely Ohie & Steen are on the market. I would take Oshie in a minute. Can play center and winger. What would it cost the pens to acquire one of those guys?

Why would they get rid of Oshie?!?! Didn't you see the Olympics?! The guys a superstar......hahaha..

So since no one has really brough up the Cap projection of $73M next season & as I'm bored/love Cap Geek...

A few assumptions I made:

(1) 13F / 8D / 2G roster. $800K in Cap Space left over for call-ups & whatnot.

(2) Dupuis does not retire & comes back from the blood clot issue. If not, this frees up $3.750M for his replacement.

(3) All RFA's (Bennett, Megna, Bortuzzo) are tendered & given slight raises, except Megna (whose tender is suprisingly high at $917K next season) & Dumoulin who could be traded for a younger W.

(4) Only internal UFA's are used, but aside from Ehrhoff, all others (Comeau, Goc, Downie, Greiss) could be substitiuted with comparable personnel without much difference in my mind.

I'd target (i) Frolik, (ii) Fologino, and (iii) Tulusty as the 2nd line W Free Agent.

- s0rcerer1984

I'd expect only 7 D. Also, Kapanen and Sundqvist have good chances to be in the lineup.

As you've shown, plenty of room to sign a forward and defenseman. Depth looks even better for next year. Trades can and probably will change things, but just signing Ehrhoff, Comeau, and a top 6 wing:

Kunitz - Crosby - Hornqvist
FA-Malkin-Kapanen
Dupuis - Sutter - Bennett
Spaling - Sundqvist-Comeau
Megna

Letang - Maata
Despres- Ehrhoff
Dumoulin - Scuderi
Bortuzzo

Berglund would be much cheaper.

Also, i remember when people here wanted Paajarvi for the longest time. I am pretty sure he has been scratched this year.

27 years old
Oshie has been a 50 point player once, and a 60 point player once. This year he has 20 games and 8 points. Oshie 4.175 for 2 years after this season

30 years old
Steen has been a 50 point player once, and a 60 point player once as well. This year 26 gp 16 points. 5.8 for 2 years after this season

I would do martin and a conditional pick. 2nd if he doesn't resign or a third if he does type of deal

Doesn't Duper count against the cap if he retires?

If Shero & Byslma were still here, I'd be worried about us paying too much for Oshie. JR don't care about the hype lol.

Oshie is a decent player, but the combination of his cap hit and acquisition costs makes me think there there are better options out there.

I'm not too sure on that.. Either way with the martin and conditional pick you get martin off the books for oshies cap hit

Oshie is also a right handed guy who hasn't played much on the left side. They need a left winger more than a right winger.

When great players are mentioned in the NHL Oshie would not be even thought of. Not even close. Give me a break.

I do say he is a pretty good player, not an elite or very good by all means. But still a solid choice
