If Dreger or Bob's say it, it's true. I firmly believe that Vinny would leave money on the table to get our of Philly. However I'm not so sure another team in the NHL would pony up the 4.5 that he's getting in Philly. Talk about a guy whose numbers fell off the planet in a hurry.....5 or 6 years he was "the best player in the game"....you remember, the year the All-Star parties were in Montreal.....then he gets bought out by the only team he's ever played for and now contemplating retirement to get out of a contract that nobody wants. The life of a pro athlete. If he wanted out of Philly so bad, why did he veto a trade to an eastern conference Canadian team?
Vinny's contract is movable IF Hextall retains some salary....if not than good luck. Vinny simply doesn't fit the system and often times he's one of the slower skaters on the ice and we all the importance of speed in the game today. While Vinny's contract may be garbage, Edmonton doesn't hold any solutions for them. The Flyers blueline is non-exist ant and right now Edmonton's entire team is non-existent. Like someone mentioned above, it may be time to dangle Coots, Schenn or Read to get a top 2 defensemen. As for Berube and his coaching style....it worked last year.
