http://thehockeywriters.c...les-at-my-corsi-question/ I stumbled upon this last night. The only reason I think its funny is because when I was new around here I asked if NHL coaches take stuff like Corsi seriously. The answer I got was "I'm sure guys like Todd Mclellan do, and guys like Randy Carlyle don't" At the time the sharks were the hottest team in the league and the Maple Leafs were, well the Maple leafs. |

I feel like there's always pessimism about the cap early in the season. Maybe it doesn't always go up as significantly as it has, but I don't really see it dropping between seasons in the foreseeable future. - BulliesPhan87
yeah, but a few teams would be in trouble if it stayed the same. |

I'm not familiar with any such teams.
Really. |

....why? Because of the perceived burn last time when he went to Philly? I hold Shero accountable for that more than Jagr....in retrospect we shouldve paid him. He was worth every penny. Hindsight 20/20---shouldve signed him for 3x3 back then. - Rawdog9755
shero was going straight on Mario's orders for that one. and it was Mario with the perceived egg on his face. The one that got played by svboda and jags. I dont harbor any ill will toward the man for getting himself the best pay day, but I'm more than willing to bet that Mario is. despite my convictions that the media made it bigger than it was, I dont think they made up the ire entirely. |

Money was a factor, but I really think a big part of Jagr's decision was role. He wanted to be on a team where he could play his spot on the top line and powerplay, and the Flyers didn't have Crosby and Malkin in the way. |

dont doubt that was part of it... but jagr was quoted as saying he would come back to finish at minimum. pens offered a couple mil and an olive branch... despite about 50% of their fans displeasure. svboda and jagr used that to parlay a bidding war with pens wings philly. maybe he chose philly cause of lack of stars, but money was certainly part of it. |

Whatever his reasoning was he should have let the Pens know sooner. Shero held off making decisions when free agency started that year, thinking that he would be signing Jagr. Even if Jagr had let the Pens know an hour or so before it started I don't think the Penguin organization would care now. Even if Jagr and the Pens reconcile later I think this eliminates any chance of the Pens retiring his number, when it otherwise likely would/should have been. |

At this point though it seems clear JR will do what he views as the best team option. If Jagr is that option I don't think he will hesitate to make the move.
I also don't think JR will over pursue any particular player. If NJ doesn't want to play ball, I think he will shut the door and move on.

Jagr was hurt when Shero said they had to sign Kennedy FIRST. He mentioned this. |

Maybe. All I remember was him saying from Europe he would play for minimum to help Mario. Then he did what he did.
I will always cherish him as a young man helping us when a cup. But to me he became a hockey whore. I know you think me harsh for saying so but when it comes to affairs of the heart things are messy. Once you step on a heart, it's done. |

Jr works for Mario and was hand picked by him so that ownership had more influence. Jr thinks best option lemiuex still can say nope |

maybe they'd even keep 1/5 a mil or so to even it out . vinny as a 3rd line center and bump up sutter, or move sutter for a perron for example would be kickin - ChrisMS
Didn't even think about the option of moving Sutter to the top six. Sutter has proven he can produce with Geno, but I think at this juncture he's a better 3C than Vinny. I'd still try to make Lecavalier stick on Geno's wing, but if that doesn't work we'd definitely have the flexibility to swap him and Flats.
I do not like the idea of moving Flats at this point unless its for a clear cut improvement to the team as a whole. Moving him for Perron would certainly make the top 6 stronger, but it would surely weaken the bottom 6. Even the most avid Goc supporters have to admit that at this point he can't just come in and fill Sutter's skates like most of us thought he could this past offseason. For that matter, I don't think Lecavalier could either. If we traded for Lecavalier, I do not think it makes Sutter any more expandable than he is right now. |

Might as well just move Sutter up with Malkin and move Spaling down to center the third line at this point. Only going to have 2 productive lines anyway. |

I bet we see this a good bit during the third, but Johnston will probably gauge how the game goes before loading up the top lines. |

Life as Sutter must be hard.
Started the year as Malkin's RW and did very well.
Went to third line C and got Downie and Bennet as wingers. Was the team's best line for some games.
Now he's centering adams and downie. God forbid but if someone gets hurt and downie gets bumped to top 6 we can just get Glass back and Sutter will be in his worst nightamare again centering adams and glass....
Poor guy, really. |

And so the injury train has another passenger.
This team is just too soft. Every year we have this. Its no longer a coincidence or bad luck. Same guys getting hurt each year too.
Need to bring in more sturdy bodies.

No on Fleischman and his inflated cap.
What about Uher? Can he be called up? This farm system is so awful it's not even funny. |

It's surprising to me how full the stands are in Columbus? It's a Monday night after a holiday and I don't see an empty seat , they must have good local support because people from Fla aren't coming that far after holiday on Monday night ?
Edit: of course I can only see the lower bowl but still ... Alright I'm using my open eye and do see some empty seats but not like I'd a thought |
