Scott Gomez signs with NJD

Don't everybody in the pool trip over each other to go scoop him up off waivers. Nucker will probably grab him and manage to turn him into Getzlaf.

I scooped up my boy Ehlers baby, I actually assumed he was already on one of the rebuilding's teams benches. He was the #1 guy on my draft wish list for the Canucks, followed by Virtanen. I saw a stat at HF where's he's had a point in almost 2 out of every 3 goals scored by his team this year.

Lamoriello should just retire already, he's struggled as a GM since the inception of the salary cap…the NHL has passed him by.

Honestly, I mostly get forced to to take the kids out skating or to the play ground or whatever. I'm very unlucky to have 2 beautiful children and a loving wife. Makes it hard to prioritize the quest for the President's Trophy like I should.

We need everyone on board for this ultimate quest. We all have to sacrifice something in order to grasp this coveted chalice.

People were still worshipping that fossil after the schneids/Hovat trade. Everyone thought he won that trade handsdown.

But I agree, there are a lot of the 'old guard' that need to be cleared out in the NHL.

The Kovy retirement and not getting anything for Parise when he ditched really (frank)ed them over.

Remember when NYR signed Bobby Holik to a $9m a year deal? He's probably still collecting buyout cheques. Good times.

Poor drafting, asset management and inability to grasp the salary cap screwed him over. That contract to Kovalchuk was ridiculous and it cost them a good pick last year, they're lucky he "retired" when he did or they'd be in trouble with recapture.

Yea, that team has very few assets to their name. You would hope that by this level of bad you have a few prospects coming up to make an impact and they do have some young dmen but my god their forward prospects are abysmal

Always grasping with UFA's instead of building. Travis Zajac is 29 yrs old and signed for SEVEN more years at almost $6 million per year - WTF??? He's playing in his ninth year and he's a two time 20 goal scorer - wow!!!

It is the old vein of thinking reminiscent of the Rangers before the salary cap era where they would just buy old FA's
Edit: I remember they were probably my most hated team for that reason

I didn't start watching hockey until the end of the Keenan era so I can't really comment. I mostly remember Messier for his stupid looking helmet and Lays commercials

And now we get to see him all the time thanks to Rogers.

I would like to see the alternate version of that commercial were the family attacks him like they are an angry throng of spider monkeys on bad acid.
