bizarre...
32 saves in a game decided by one goal seems like a pretty major impact, maybe even more so than what was basically a late insurance goal at the time. - rival22
Jake Allen had 36 saves in a 1 goal win.
McElhinny had 40 in a 1 goal loss.
Enroth had 41 in a 1 goal win.
Did they solely win the game for their teams? It's s team game and I'd say that from the highlights I saw of each game, thsee guys all had a more substantial part in their teams games. Even McElhinny in a loss. Once again. Not saying Griess is bad. But he did not influence the result. The team kept majority of opportunities to low risk opportunities from what I saw. |

And all I was trying to say/prove is that it wasn't "Germans" that won that game. One had a integral point. But the other had no major impact. Did he save enough shots, yes. Did he win it, no. - wreckage
Your argument is worthless because another German your failing to mention also impacted the game... I practically willed them to win. When Ehrhoff scored, I got the third assist. When Griess made that super sliding save, I moved him with my mind! |

Ehrhoff was the only German. "Germans" is incorrect in the title. Griess was only a factor on the score sheet not in actuality. - wreckage
Since youre into nitpicking, maybe you should read the title of the blog again. |

Clearly there is no discussion to be had here. A neutral fan tries to give an option that isn't positive of the "home team" and he's an idiot.
obviously the steelers are better than the Patriots.
The pirates are better than the Giants.
Crosby is better than Gretzky ever was.
Bortuzzo is better than Giordano Subban and Karlsson combined.
But hey, as long as the last game was won by the back up who supremely out performed a bottom 5 team while his team kept majority of shots to the perimeter... the W is on him. |

Bortuzzo has demonstrated he is a solid 5-6 d man when given the opportunity to play... the fact that the Pens have guys above him or in the system that are more values that not take away from that value... see Ben Lovejoy

Ryan, generally enjoy your blogs more times than not, but between this title and the information provided. You made it appear as though you were indicating this game made the record month with a few stats about a few previous game.
Either way, good work. I will continue to read, so I can get perspective from a knowledgeable fan of the game. Can't say I will help you with hits and respond in the future. Most likely to your teams fan base pleasure. |

Conspiracy theory: Letang was not hurt, just given a night off for Bortuzzo to show what he has to the Canes. He picked a good night to do his best Malkin impression. Bortuzzo is trade bait..... |

And how many GOALS did that goalie score? Cause I don't think you WIN by scoring goals. You can win games from a team game keeping shots outside and from afar without traffic. Hell, someone as narrow-minded as you could win a couple that way. Did Griess do anything, ANYTHING, to say he won that game? I am not saying he is a bad G or even a bad #2, but he was not a KEY in that W as the title of this blog attempts to say considering he is the 2nd German on this team. - wreckage
He made 32 saves on 34 shots. He helped the team win by making saves. He was a KEY in that W because if he lets in goals then they lose. by your logic goalies are useless and don't help teams win games |

Good call...but hopefully they were more impressed with Scuds
If we had to trade Bortuzzo in a package for a top 6 you have control over for more than a year, you do it....even though I like Borts a lot |

I agree the blog is very misleading because German Titov certainly didn't lead the Pens to a record setting November. |

A football question: what does Gradkowski do well? He stays on the sidelines with a funny face and talking only. Is he a decent backup? |
