Why is so true?
Changing a distraction that won't pass to teammates ,and a goalie that flops and gives up soft goals is just as much of an excuse .
Again I will point out the drop in standings the previous year when the problems were coming to a head before Torts had arrived.
We wanted to trade Edler for two years , we wanted to trade Kesler for two years ,we wanted to trade LU for two years, we anted to fire AV for two years. I don't see how one blames Torts for that. - VANTEL
Lu has a .927 sv % with the Cats, while Schneids has a .914 with the Devils. Why are you making Lu a scapegoat ? |

Did you watch any of the playoffs the Canucks had ?
If you are using just stats then Edler must have been the worst Dman in the last 10 years, seeing he was -39 last year.
I don't give a rats ass what LU does in FLA , he let in 13 goals from behind the redline in the 2011 cup run. Yes he had some good games but game 6 they were firing them in from the blue line in Boston. |

You mean like when he stole a playoff series from SJ and then had 2 shutouts in the finals ? Good grief man we scored 8 goals in 7 games, let's put it on the goalie. |

If, oh only if, he could have stole one game in Boston we'd have won the Cup |

13 goals from behind the red line . Excellent goaltending.
The year before he had 26 goals in 6 games against the Hawks. How many goalies win a series with 4 plus GAA?
LU was always good or very bad, there was seldom middle ground.
13 goals from behind the red line .
Oh yeah and two years in a row his back up stole his starting position |

You're right, it's Luongo's fault. If only we had Lack starting back then, we would have swept them. |

I just don't think it was simply addition by subtraction. I agree that Kesler & Luongo were distractions but Torts almost single-handedly de-moralized this team with some help from Gillis. Fingers can be pointed in many directions not just at two malcontents. |

How many goals did Mr Clutch have in the last two games against Boston for the SCF?
9 goals . 4.5 GAA nd they were not pretty goals
We won't mention the 8-1 game seeing LU had a shutout at home in the first game.
Unlike a good pornstar ,Lu chokes on the big ones |

The players did remove the A from Kes, I am sure the players could have told GMMG to get rid of Torts.
It was a combination of all three. IMO equal shares of fault, I just don't buy in that it was all just Torts seeing the previous two years we were asking AV to be fired. |

Fixed.
Thomas outplayed Lu and I guess if you want to look at it as all Lu's fault, you would say the team lost confidence in him as soon as he let one in.
Either way though, the team in front of the tender has to score. Not scoring eventually results in a loss.
The team didn't adapt on the ice and Gillis faltered after that.
Next chapter. |

Game six. LU lets in a softie early game over .
People (including myself ) said AV couldn't adapt. The reason we hired Torts is because we through we had a coaching problem. AV adapted with his new team and took them to the cup first year. I don't think AV had the horses to change the style. We got out muscled in all of our final series for the last 5 years. |

The whole team(including Luongo) was outplayed, the forwards, the defense, the goalie, the coaches.
Like you said, next chapter. Move on. |

Geez...as I've been writing about today's good Canucks, you've been hanging out on 2011 memory lane.
I'm in the middle of reading Bruce Dowbiggin's "Ice Storm" which rehashes all that stuff in excruciating detail. A masochistic's book if there ever was one.
I'll share some thoughts on that when I'm done - probably early next week.
In the meantime, a quick re-hash of Friday night's win in Columbus:

Just looked at the minutes from last night, not one forward under ten minutes, good balance there!!
First line - 1 goal
Second line - 3 goals (one empty net)
Third line - 1 goal
Fourth line - even for the night
I saw a breakdown of the Canucks scoring by line for the season last night - something like 20, 17, 14, 11…which is damn good. - LeftCoaster
Yea I saw that as well, pretty amazing stuff! |

I can never tell if you are serious
I suppose my point was more along the lines that humanity will always be oppressed by a few, be it monarchies, religions, ideologies business elites etc.
The people of sub-saharan Africa and central American etc would have a very different opinion... - Whiskey-Tango
