As I mentioned, take what you will. But please note, the oceans are NOT cleaner, pollution is not down (take a look at what's happening in China - people can't even SEE in front of their face - does that sound like progress?) The poor are just getting poorer and the middle class will be non-existent in near future, while the 1% of ultra rich keep getting wealthier
I'm not saying life is not good but it is only good primarily for Western Countries (even then, look at all the homeless in both Canada and the US - we can't even take care of our own). You have to look at the big picture and not just your lifestyle. The majority of the world doesn't even have clean running water let alone any of the comforts we are blessed with.
Politicians are more corrupt than ever, as is government in general. Kids that are as young as 11 are wearing compromising - even slutty- outfits. Reading is a lost form. Education in general is poor.
And the fall out from fossil fuels and deforestation which nicely heats are home ans gives us so many wonderful products is not sustainable whatsoever.
Anyway, I'm glad you can find positivity, that's certainly a good step. But I think we need spread some of our good fortune with others.
In any event, I know this is a hockey site, and these are things to debate on another proper site. As I touched on, take what you will from the video and make up your own mind. That is one of the most important things the video imparts, at least in my humble opinion - Zogg
Right now, the whole world is kind if like the American Health Care System. Best health care in history, if you can afford it. If not, you're hooped.
And the Oceans are not cleaner, unless you consider fish to be pollution. |

That's representative of perhaps 20 percent of the global population and that's being generous. Capitalism 101, the majority of a population must be exploited to the benefit of a few, that can be viewed by both the discrepancies between the global north and south, as well as being implemented within Western societies as a whole I.e the 99% vs the the top elites.
From my POV it has nothing to do within a specific historical context as human nature will always remain a constant.
Hobbes was a cruel mother(frank)er but I think he called it the way it is. - Whiskey-Tango
Dude... stop watching CNN and bill maher. The poor are NOT getting poorer, this is one of the biggest fallacies. Capitalism makes the world a much better place, it creates amazing technologies, medicine, and pretty much anything that makes your life easier and more convenient. Are you supporting those morons trying to stop the pipeline while taking photos with their iPhones?
The poor are living better lives today than the rich did 100 years ago. This is not a zero sum game... there is plenty of wealth to go around. We need people like Bill Gates, creating 10s of thousands of jobs while creating products that make everyone's lives better. People being misinformed since elementary school and all the way through college/university. And morons like Michael Moore spreading his idiocy throughout western culture using his documentaries.
Anyways... enough of that.. CANUCKS ARE #1! |

Do you know what I hate? Belittling someone's opinion by implying that they are just parroting a specific media outlet's narrow point of view. If that was the case, I would start referring to you as "Bill O'Rielly, the Canadian Edition". Zogg has stated more then once in this thread that he comes to his own conclusions and has, in my opinion, demonstrated that to be the case. It is fine to disagree, but incredibly ignorant to simply disregard because you don't agree.
And yes, they might as well just give us the President's Trophy. That B!tch lives in Roger's Arena. We just lent it to the Bruins last season because we wanted their assistant gm. |

Bill Oreily is a crotchety delusional old man... I don't respect his views. Everyone here is free to think whatever they want... doesn't mean I'm not going to point out the flaw in their opinion. Everyone can do the same to me!

Just remember how many years it took Bertuzzi to hit his stride -7.
There is no way I would give up on Kassian, this is precisely the knee-jerk type of reaction which impedes franchises from improving. I don't care if he has to play on the 3 or 4 line for the next two years until WD figures out the best way to get him going. there's no way I would trade him. - Zogg
Exactly. Not sure why people are ready to trade a guy who is only starting to come into his role as a power forward. Didn't anyone learn anything from the Nealy debacle?
Teams that give up on guys who who have the raw skill this guys got end up regretting it. Nealy, Bert, Mike knuble, Jason Arnott, etc... |

I hope the no respect continues. The worst thing about being the most hated team was that all of the other teams hated the Canucks as well, and got up to play them. The Canucks didn't get too many easy games the last few years where the other team basically took the night off. I think that there has been a couple already this season. |

I don;t think I went to 1 game last year where I felt really excited to see the team play. I CANNOT wait to go to the NYR game Dec 13. Even if this team doesn't do much in the playoffs (Assuming they make it) they are at the very least, super exciting to watch |

Last year was painful. It's insane how brutal it was. That's why this year is such a surprise so far. I was not expecting this. And the best part is, you can actually get a ticket quite easily this year, and you get to watch some uptempo exciting hockey. |

Ryan Miller has been amazing. The coaching has made a huge difference. I figured we'd be vastly improved this year, but 1st was even better than I was hoping for. What a beating the BJs took. |

Statistically isn't blowing anyone out of the water... but he makes the timely save and seems to keep himself in position at all times... no flopping... plus can play the puck pretty competently. I was not thrilled when he was signed but he has been very very solid. |

It could be the winning and having a clear number 1, but he's also not done a lot of talking, which has been a great change of pace after the last few years. I was happy enough to sign the best goalie out there and I was willing to give him a chance. He's certainly delivered thus far. He's been the better goalie on the vast majority of nights. |

I agree... many felt Lack was a viable option. Where do you think this team is in the standings if Lack and Markstrom were between the pipes? |

It would depend on how the team played in front of each. Probably would have lost several of the close games we won. Lack likely would have played like he did near the end of the year having all the pressure of being the #1 on him and no experienced backup to spell him if he got too tired/had a bad stretch of games. It would be interesting to know what Benning and Linden's Plan B/C/D/whatever would have been if they couldn't have signed Miller for one reason or another. My guess is they would have tried to go after one of the marquee backups that got snatched up right after Miller was signed or else they likely would have tried to upgrade the D-core and trade for a stud D-man that could do everything and pray that they could outscore their weakness in net. |
