nothing to do with hockey but I found this video quite compelling.Check it out if you have a moment http://youtu.be/itvnQ2QB4yc
And take it for what you will - Zogg
This video is terrible... this is the best time to live... we are the healthiest we have ever been throughout history. The planet is in the best shape it has been in the past 100 years. Oceans are cleaner, pollution is down, living way longer and GMOs (Which have been around pretty much since the beginning of farming thousands of years ago) is giving poorer parts of the world the ability to produce more food than ever before and will continue to create more sustainable crops. Its true that government is a joke. The media uses scare tactics to make people think the world is ending and quality of life is getting worse. The exact opposite is true! Doctors believe the first person to live to 150 has already been born. Fossil fuels and other technological advances have made life incredible. I could not be more happy than to be born in this time, as opposed to like the 1800s |

Strong poetry but depressing.
I did like one of the messages that came out of the Ferguson thingy. If you want change then get involved. |

I agree that Kassian needs work on both sides of the puck; however, I think he is ahead of where Bertuzz was before he managed to 'figure' things out. Bertuzzi's plus minus (before he 'broke' out was a brutal -65 ). I haven't checked Kassian's totals but I'm fairly certain he is nowhere near that number.
Again, further patience is required or we are going to let a potential power forward go for virtually nothing - Zogg
I think this is key. If he goes now we will be getting a penny on the dollar. If he remains a decent 3rd liner I don't see how we are losing anything in waiting to see if he figures it out |

Exactly, even if he fills that role for another few years, it won't hurt the team. I know we are beating a dead horse but the key - at least with respect to Kassian - is patience (more so than any other player we have on the roster). I'm almost willing to put my money down that Kassian will in fact improve and 'figure things out' especially under a coach like WD. You can count last year as a complete waste in development under THAT coach |

I agree with this. Things have moved forward at an incredible pace over the past 100-200 years. There are certainly some scares moving forward but the quality of life available right now is insane. From a social perspective as well I always here the same old "things never change" crap but public opinion has done a 180 in the Western world post-WW2 with respect to issues like equality across genders, races, and sexual orientations. All that being said, it depends on what you consider important. |

Yep, I think the most important thing is reading with an open and eager mind. When I am being forced to do something I immediately become resistant to the content and take less time to digest |

I thought he developed well last year. What he really needs is some stability for once and to get lots of consecutive games in |

As I mentioned, take what you will. But please note, the oceans are NOT cleaner, pollution is not down (take a look at what's happening in China - people can't even SEE in front of their face - does that sound like progress?) The poor are just getting poorer and the middle class will be non-existent in near future, while the 1% of ultra rich keep getting wealthier
I'm not saying life is not good but it is only good primarily for Western Countries (even then, look at all the homeless in both Canada and the US - we can't even take care of our own). You have to look at the big picture and not just your lifestyle. The majority of the world doesn't even have clean running water let alone any of the comforts we are blessed with.
Politicians are more corrupt than ever, as is government in general. Kids that are as young as 11 are wearing compromising - even slutty- outfits. Reading is a lost form. Education in general is poor.
And the fall out from fossil fuels and deforestation which nicely heats are home ans gives us so many wonderful products is not sustainable whatsoever.
Anyway, I'm glad you can find positivity, that's certainly a good step. But I think we need spread some of our good fortune with others.
In any event, I know this is a hockey site, and these are things to debate on another proper site. As I touched on, take what you will from the video and make up your own mind. That is one of the most important things the video imparts, at least in my humble opinion |

Oh kneughter, I laughed out loud and my kids said what's so funny.
I think the message was more about humanity and that we need more of it. I agree that saying "we had it and we lost it" is a load of poop. We've never been nicer to each other. But in some communities (and the world as a whole) there's still a long way to go.
Edit: forgot to add that women would have been very hairy in the 1800's. For that alone, I want nothing to do with that time. |

Ok, not sure if you are being facetious or not. Frankly, I'm not impressed with most media (the news I get is from outside sources like the Guardian or researching things myself, using the Internet and other legitimate institutions to make my own opinion)
And to add, Faux News, preaches precisely the exact opposite of what has been noted here. They don't give a sh*t about the environment, poor people, or proper stewardship of the environment. They just don't give a sh*it, under the veil that they are deeply concerned. If you want to hear the most biased crap then watch Faux News (even CNN is getting bad - these entities are controlled by the same people that control all the power - whether directly or indirectly.
In any event, I hope that people don't take things at face value. Do your own research and make a decision based on that, and not some faux 'entertainment' news program or even the video I posted. It's up to you to make your own decision. But if you think things are fabulous then you are a little delusional or, with all due respect, self-centered at worst |
