What, might I ask, is wrong with country?
Do you happen to dislike beer and boobs? Because that accounts for 98% of the content of country music
Oh yea and trucks. Sorry it's more like 68% trucks, 30% beer and boobs, 2% misc - bezz44

Yeah I wouldn't be trading Draisaitl for Martin Erat or anything, that's for sure. - Jeropotato

Hard to say. People are pissed, that's for sure. You probably can't relate but since the dynasty days we had to deal with being a poor team, being un attractive to free agents etc, and Sather/Lowe had to scratch and claw to keep us competitive enough for the 8th seed most years. Let's face it. The only chance the Oilersbhad was to rebuild, and 5 years was a stupid plan. How long does an expansion team usually take to get traction? 10 years? Taylor Halls draft year we had a worse roster than most recent expansion teams , with only Eberle, Petry and MPS in the system.
Trust me, it sucks, but most people realize it's just a game and are not gonna go out of their way to get managements attention. - Jeropotato
what screwed you over was the Pronger situation. you didn't get any real no. 1 defenceman out of that deal either right away or in terms of future prospects. the only value was Eberle... maybe klefbom figures in there somehow, but he's not a no.1 dman. should have just told pronger to sit tight until someone (philly) stepped up with some real pieces to keep you competitive.
a lot jealousy though in oil nation at the success of the Canucks over the last ten years or so.. |

That Nashville game was brutal. Outshot the Preds by a mile, then have the game on Eberle's stick only to stuff it into Renne's skates and then have Fordberg do lapse around the Oilers all standing still. I don't care how long they've been out there, move around a little for (frank)'s sake. Bloody ugly. If the star forwards can't even muster a goal on a penalty shot, the Oilers have zero hope. |

Oilers fans need the fire Lowe and Mac T ralies at rexell |

I'm interested to see what Benning does to help the teams D core, maybe it's just me, but I get the feeling he's always lurking for a deal to improve the team...however big or small. |

Agreed. I think he is the sort of GM who is always looking to improve the team both now anmd down the road. A vast improvement over Scroat-Goat. |

The Oilers have been tanking for close to a decade.
You know I think torts for one season in edm might be worth a try. I think of what Jay Gruden said about RG3 and it might apply to edm. They have so many players who were so good at lower levels that they were protected or coddled. Time to take the diapers of and potty train these (frank)wrs |

They aren't "tanking" anymore. They are trying to win, they want to win. |

Say what you want about Mac T, but has he lost a trade yet? Some of his UFA signings have been questionable but his trades for Hendricks, Scrivens, Fasth and Perron were all pretty good deals for the Oil. Of course he made some minor deals that nobody remembers because they were fairly neutral. - Jeropotato
This is what everyone keeps saying. Oiler management scared poopless to 'lose' a trade. Trades aren't about winning and losing. It's about getting a player your team needs.
If you look at the Kesler trade, the canucks look like they 'lost'. But did they really? Look at the Hodgson trade. Not the canucks best trade but our team did not have a big 'power forward' type player in the system so our management went out and got one. Most people believed the canucks 'lost' that trade as well.
The irony; Oiler management are so desperate not to look like losers, yet they are creating an environment that perpetuates losing. |

It is something like that. Sucking so bad should not be rewarded with an almost guaranteed #1 or #2 pick.
Isn't it quite the contrast the way Bo has been given sheltered/managed minutes compared to the Oiler approach?
How much further would the Oilers be along if they didn't rush their prospects into unwinnable situations?
Lowe should be given a ride to the airport, the only constant through years of struggle and failure. It is a business that is run like a hobby toy and this is why some people don't think they should get government funding for new stadiums or tax breaks etc. |
