In Halak we have a goalie that lets the d gamble but with Johnson in nets they have to play a more conservative game 'til they get more comfortable. Johnson is definitely not as athletic and flexible as Halak but wonder if he has the right training regiment.
Overall not a great game, only hope tomorrow night they get back into playing with the home momentum against NJD. |

If we're going to play pond hockey it's not going to matter who plays defense. I know the goalie was crap, and you can't win 82, but there's no excuse for that 2nd period. I turned it off after that, because it disgusts me to watch that crap. |

Johnson doesn't have to be athletic, he has to stop cheating when he shouldn't and square up to the puck. Hes been pretty bad in all but one game. He'd better get it together very quickly.

I know Johnson has looked pretty damn bad as of late, but goaltending was a huge HUGE issue for us for years. Waiving him is just a bad idea. I know he can play better than what we've seen. I really hope he gets back to playing solid.
Strait needs to get way way less ice time. Brutal. Rather see donovan or Reinhart at this point. If anyone is out for a long period of time, I'd even give Pulock a game or two. |

They simply cannot get into a game where they're skating all over the godd*mn rink for no apparent reason. There was far too much inefficient movement in yesterday's event, and the problem is when you have guys like Strait (and Johnson, for that matter) in the lineup, they need the game to be made SIMPLER, so they don't have to do so much. Pond hockey is the polar opposite of "simpler". If they had shut that sh*t down, clogged center ice, lined the blue line, and stood in the lanes, at least two of those shots wouldn't have gotten anywhere near the goaltender, regardless of his crap positioning. If this team truly is as good as advertised, they'll shut New Jersey down this evening, and stop this before it gets to be a trend. |

Yeah we are. Let's hope that isn't the case. Pens and Montreal lost along with us last night. Have to take this one today. |

I'm more upset that Brian strait got 21:25 of ice time. He got five mins more than hickey and leddy had 20 seconds more than him. If you think he's that wonderful than why is he the seventh defenseman? - Cptmjl
Probably because they were playing with 4 d-men part of the game... |

Unless someone gets called up, Strait and Donovan will both be back in action. Isles' forwards need to be defensively responsible more than ever tonight. Devils will be hungry and pissed off coming off a game where they blew a 3 goal lead. Game could get chippy. |

Also, while I'm no fan of Strait and thought he was partially responsible for one of those goals yesterday, he is somewhat bigger than Hickey, and the Caps' forwards are pretty big. |

I get that but when he has more ice time than any regular besides leddy and he only had twenty seconds less than him I find that a little strange and im not saying that we lost the game bcs of it just saying the guy facking blows and hes a seventh defenseman. |

Yeah he will never admit to MacDonald being a shatty defenseman. He lost the last game for them and quite a few others I watched when he was in the line up. Hes been absolutely brutal which is par for the course with amac. So happy hes gone. - Cptmjl
And yet, I would take A-Mac over Strait........not that that's saying much.
But Strait doesn't have a $30 million dollar contract either.
Note to GM Hextall..... Don't look to upgrade your defense by signing unsigned UFAs from the last place team in your division. |

I'd love to see Pulock called up. We are missing a lot of firepower from the blue line with these 2 out.

Here's something negative....LOL...Johnson sucks. I'd much rather have Nabokov backing up Halak. - dcb1
Nabby? At this point im hoping they see what DiPietro is up to!

I think its a wash btn strait and amac. Amac is that bad. He was a big reason why our record was the way it was last season. Him and capuano misusing him and giving him the ice time he did. |
