How did Dale Talon rip him off? I don't think anyone won the trades between FLA and Van. If anything I think Markstrom and Matthias have turned out pretty good. Markstrom has been lights out in the AHL. Matthias is an adiquate 4th liner that will benefit playing under WD.
Other trades we had with FLA we lost Sturm, Samuelsson, Shirokov, Oberg, Zimmerman, Hordichuk, Bernier, and Grabner. No big deal. Of the guys we gained Higgins has been the best player by far. The Panthers did get Howden with our 2010 1st round pick but it's not like he's had a positive effect on the Panthers.
I hate Gillis as much as anyone but if we are going to criticize then we need to be realistic.

To me winning a trade means getting what you wanted and what you needed not fleecing the other team. Florida wanted to rid Booths contract for example and in return they got players who covered the loss of Booth's offensive production and contributed in the playoffs... which Booth didnt for Vancouver.
Vancouver on the other hand got nothing but wasted cap space and a wasted roster spot out of that trade.
Panthers clearly won that trade.
