I see a lot of love for Megnatron and im just not sure why? How come your excited for him to crack the line up? What is it you think he provides? - nbartley9
I was just relaying information. Personally, i think Megna has earned a few games with the big club with the way he's played in the AHL. Sill does nothing for me right now. |

Yeah I would have to begrudgingly agree, I was excited for Sill to get his shot and he shat all over himself. I would have just liked to have seen another rough and tumble guy come up from WBS. This is a pretty big physical team we are playing tonight and Megna just doesn't seem to relish in those types of situations. I hope I am wrong.
Also "F Sutter" has been retired, I know its hard to accept but he doesn't deserve to be bashed by me anymore.

This may sound crazy, but how about:
Mathieu Perrault
Jason Chimera
Daniel Briere
Vinny Lecavalier (just kidding). - jmatchett383
I'm down with Briere, I've always been a fan... dude is as clutch as they come. |

Problem is, he produces best as a center (pretty poorly as a wing, to be honest) and is a defensive liability. So you'd need to play him as a top-3 center with defensively responsible wingers. |

Well, the refs decided to not call either team for icing or offsides that game, apparently. |

F Whitney?
Good article.
I think 87 is starting to gain a reputation for things other than diving. And this new reputation is worse then being called a diver.
I am very alarmed at how he has performed in big games against good teams the past few years. Its beyond merely being circumstance, bad luck, or a hot goaltender at this point.
Also, right around the same time is when he started making these awful, blind cross-ice/drop passes. - 87_71_11_29
Yeah everyone thought it was just because of hot goalie that shutdown the Pens big guns. Then it happened 2 more year and everyone said lack of depth now everyone seems to be coming around to the fact that our biggest players go silent when the going gets tough. |

The kid can skate. To me, that should always be a top priority. Bottom 6 player for sure, but his puck skills aren't embarrassing like some current guys in the line up. |

Actually Scuds has been pretty good so far this year, he is making Despres stand out and get his offense going. I think he is going to really help in Despres' growth as a player.

He definitely deserves a shot more than sill. If megna does play tonight, he will get a point. Book it! |

Sutter and Pouliot to Edm for Eberle and Perron. Edm retains 2 mill per year.
NOT A REAL TRADE, just one I could see happening now that Bartleys in bed with Sutter. |

What makes me excited* for Megna over Sill is that it may allow Goc to flourish a bit more in his role as 4th line C.
Let's be clear - Megna is not going to drive puck possesion/generate scoring oppurtunities goals/draw penalties like Crosby or Malkin. However, right now Goc is dragging both Adams and Sill all over the ice. If Megna can hold his own, then I think he and Goc can tilt the ice more torwards the opposition than Goc can, essentially, on his own. A few more shot attemps, drawing a penalty here or there w/ some speed/skill, or even a goal every 4 or 5 games. Its just something where Sill gives you nothing but chewing up minutes.
* = In so far as you can be excited for a swaping of 4th liners |

Do the Pens need a superstar winger, I would agree they don't but what they do need is an impact, someone you notice when they are on the ice.
If we are trading with Edmonton, I think there is a real possibility that we can convince them to make the mistake of trading us Yakupov. I know a lot of people don't think he is very special or attach the lazy Russian stereotype to him, but I think those people don't watch many Oilers games. He has worked very hard on his defensive game because it what the coach asked of him, he puts in an effort every shift, he's in the scrums and sticks up for his teammates.
I've said it before but now that we have extra cap due to Dupuis' injury Byfuglien can be had from Winnipeg. He is exactly the type of impact player is like to see the pens get. And if anyone remembers his time with Chicago the bigger the game the bigger he plays. Byfuglien Malkin Comeau would be a devastating line to play against.
Also I wouldn't trade Sutter, he has been out best player most nights.

He has looked BETTER this year but he is too slow and still treats the puck like a live grenade , do SOMETHING other than pass it D to D ! |
