That's not quite the point. If I had the past few seasons CBJ had and the team they had last year and they made the playoffs I would be going nuts. I don't care if the Pens would of knocked them first round, that was a great season.
The fact that we have the team we do and constantly implode in the playoffs isn't acceptable. I would trade regular season success and watch the Flyers win the devision to make it to the EC Finals. I was disappointed with the way we went out against the Bs two years ago, but I wasn't disappointed. I was, however, disappointed in our exit against the Flyers... and our exit against the Canadiens... and most recently, our exit against the Rangers. Things like that shouldn't happen. Its one thing to get beaten. Its another thing to blow it. - Victoro311
the point is that this happens to 29 teams a year with 14 teams not even getting a chance to blow it big. lots of teams out there wish they were as lucky as the pens. the pens have had/do have the best three players in the league in their perspective times playing for them for three decades. Venting frustration when it happens is fine. wishing it was better thats fine too. BUt taking a moment like tonight where a pittsburgh penguin made the record books again and be so frustrated and angry that one has to smear it is so sad. so so sad

It all has to do with fancy stats man. They would ruin hockey if actual NHL employed people thought highly of them. I feel proud of Flower. |

I wouldnt be popping the champagne just yet after this win. B's were w/o 2 of their best players Chara and Keriji, and still took the Pens to OT.
Crosby's line seemed fine. Just keep PH with him and be done with it.
Malkin's line was not good, and he didnt do much off the PP.
3rd line seemed pretty good, hope BB is ok. I would start to try him with Malkin or Crosby and see what happens.
Letang played a great game, same with Ehroff. I would like to see more of him, he seems a bit buried right now. Man Scuds is terribly slow. He is just not good.
Congrats to MAF! |

If BB is out for an extended period, I think we'd officially be done as a serious Cup contender. Even WITH Duper and BB we still needed another FW or 2. Now with Duper out most/all of the season, Beau going all Bennett on us and getting hurt (even if this latest injury isn't serious its just a matter of time until the next one), you have to wonder if its in the cards.
Best case scenario...
1. Duper comes back in early April before playoffs
2. BB isn't seriously injured
3. Pens make a few moves at the deadline and make a run for it
Finally, based on past history, the injuries likely aren't over yet but are just beginning. |

Congrats to MAF. Pretty significant accomplishment.
BB - perhaps his body isn't meant to play a contact sport?

And that hire has done what exactly to improve the team? - sammy87
It is a quarter of the way through a season, how are you going to impact a team with advanced stats 20 games in? Your statistics are starting to gain enough sample size to mean something. The point is all teams value this and they use it to their advantage.

Was perusing box scores last night. One number stood out to me...
Flyers at Isles.
Attendance: 12,409 76.1% capacity.
That's about as fun a team as there is to watch play. Isles fans...buy some tickets. |

I don't think Dupuis is allowed to come back early. I was under the impression the six month timeline is the estimated time of treatment. |

Did Vokoun ever come back? I know he is still listed as a UFA, but i thought his clots effectively ended his career? I know Dupes has that chance. There was already a need in the top 6, now there is a gaping hole, and if BB is out, 2 holes in the top 9. |

If it was anyone else I'd say they're done. I can't count duper out. I'd like to get these trades done early so the team can gel more. 87 must read twitter and listen to the radio about how terrible he's been cuz he stepped it up last night. |

Yeah, he also got reunited with PH, Im sure that helped.
Kunitz, unless the play came to him last night he just looked slow. |

TV was cleared to play in February last year. I think he played some games in the AHL, but never got into a game in the NHL. |

Yea he's looked that way lately. Hoping he's injured and not just showing his age. PH is a monster I couldn't be happier we traded Neal for him at this point. |

Be careful.... I said the same thing yesterday and was called a Kunitz hater.
Hornqvist never quits. Never stops skating. It's impressive. |

Yeah I know, some ppl get so defensive over players here its a joke. Between that and the ridiculous trade proposals. Someone had like Sutter, 1st, Harrington, Dumolous for Yak and Eberle. It would take Malkin to get those too out together. |

Kunitz is 34 years old and has played a tough style his entire career. He will regress physical but his shot is actually getting better. If he becomes more of a goal scorer than it doesn't matter if he loses a step. The pens just need someone of better talent to pair him with. |

Kunitz is 35 btw. Not saying he's done in the top 6, but he is not a primary player up there anymore. That's why I want whoever comes back in a trade under 30.

Yeah, I agree. That line will need someone with good wheels.....if and when he returns to Sid's line.
I always thought Grabner would be great for Sids line. One can dream.... |

I like Grabner too, cant see the Isles making a deal with the Pens though. It's so terribly frusterating the Pens dont have any mid 20's F's that can contribute on fairly cheap deals outside of PH. |

I'm not so sure the Isles would be in on Grabner, but Etem, Smith-Pelly, and or Silverberg could probably be had from Anaheim for the right price.
I would actually go as far to say that Smith-Pelly+ could be had for Paul Martin. |

Hate to disagree but come playoff time is when it counts. Last year in playoffs Sid got shut down. Give him a big time winger to open up space and maybe we look at stanley cup |
