Letang
My stars for the game tonight! |

great game.
like megna in the bottom 6.
really going to have to trade for a winger. it has to happen. - stayinthefnnet
Yup. Especially if BB is out for several weeks. I saw more from Megna in this game than from Sill in 17 games. |

Megna was a bit more physical than I thought he would be. I like it. His speed is pretty sweet too. Not sure he is a permanent fit, but he and Sutter cover a lot of ice out there. |

Missed tonight's game. Anyone got time to update Bennett's situation? |

We do need a winger. Comeau belongs in the 3rd/4th line.
I wonder If Megna could be serviceable playing with Kuni and Geno. - Barnaby36
He did it last yr and put up points then got hurt and DB put him on 4th line barely played and was sent down |

Played well. BB hit bruin and bruin took him down while trapping his leg. BB went to locker room at end of 2nd came back but looked bad. Didn't play half of 3rd |

I'm sure they don't know the extent yet. Def his right knee. Same one he hurt in the preseason. He played I think 3 shifts before relenting. I'd say the only good news is that it's likely a sprain as opposed to being torn up. |

He was serviceable with Geno last year before going down. Is he ideal to have up there? No. Does he have certain offensive upside that Blake Comeau doesn't have and could possibly outproduce Comeau in a top 6 roll? I believe so. I say give him another game or two in the bottom six to get him going at the NHL level and then stick him on Geno's right wing. He's an ok short term solution while we figure out our next move.
Better yet, if BB is ok, stick him on Geno's right and move Megna to the third with Flats and Steve. His offensive potential could keep that line producing if Beau is to be moved up. |

i love bennett as a player. i know the numbers arent there, but if you could ever get a season out of him, he would be awesome. he passes the eye test for me in every way.
that being said, you just simply cannot put eggs in his basket right now. i dont even want to say he is fragile. these injuries just look freakish. but they are undeniable.
if he comes back and can be relied on in any capacity, then it is a bonus. but you cant hold your breath for him. down him and dupuis, the depth simply will not be there to make a serious run. its crazy to say with the star power on this team, but a trade for someone like a tlusty or perron literally could make all the difference in the world.

Nice. For now I'd stick with the pairings:
Crosby-Hörnqvist
Malkin-Kunitz
Sutter-Bennett-Downie (exception)
Goc-Adams (nowhere else to go here)
Comeau, Spaling, Megna, Sill jumping up and down the lineup |

He, unfortunately, has the same rep as the rest of the team. Great regular season, post season is a question mark. Fair or not. |

I like Beau, a lot. He's almost a BFF!
All the talk of "what to expect" and "reliability" and "how fragile he is" sucks! He's a damn good hockey player with the worst luck on any sheet of ice.
Unfortunately a contingency plan needs to be put in place. Maybe Megna can be the replacement if need be. I very much hope that Bennett isn't ostracized for freak injuries though.
I haven't seen the play yet, or the game tonight. But I do know there are a lot of "Bennett injury" jokes out there. That sucks! Root the kid on, after all he might be reading your comment |

yeah... cause only one cup in the past 15 years puts the pens in the company of everyone except LA and CHI and Detroit. Bad rep |

In that case I'd put Megna with Malkin and either put Spaling or Comeau with Crosby. Pretty irrelevant which one you choose. Either one will be an anchor, but Crosby-Horny will produce regardless of who's to the left. I'm getting the feeling that Geno needs a serious spark and that spark needs to be more than Kunitz.
Its a real shame. I thought Geno was gonna flourish without Neal. He seems not quite himself unless he's on the power play. |

4 playoff series wins in 5 years after largely dominating regular seasons. I'd say that's not exactly considered impressive. Mario wasn't impressed that's for sure.
I have to remember you consider being regular season champs as successful... |

I'll just have to remember that when other teams fans talk about spoiled whiney pens fans, your among those giving the rest of us a bad rap. oh well... I'll take the momemnt where flower made the record books and enjoy it... you keep poking holes in all the success the pens have had. Maybe one day over the holiday season a NHL cindy lou who will make your heart grow 3 times that day. |

That's not quite the point. If I had the past few seasons CBJ had and the team they had last year and they made the playoffs I would be going nuts. I don't care if the Pens would of knocked them first round, that was a great season.
The fact that we have the team we do and constantly implode in the playoffs isn't acceptable. I would trade regular season success and watch the Flyers win the devision to make it to the EC Finals. I was disappointed with the way we went out against the Bs two years ago, but I wasn't disappointed. I was, however, disappointed in our exit against the Flyers... and our exit against the Canadiens... and most recently, our exit against the Rangers. Things like that shouldn't happen. Its one thing to get beaten. Its another thing to blow it. |

Ha... well that last part is slightly insane...
We obviously have different definitions of achievement, but sooner or later you're going to have to explain how the last coach and GM got canned after so much "success".
I'm glad low expectations make you happy. Good for you. |
