Among Oilers trade targets...David Perron. Told MacTavish is asking for a top center in return. Edmtn gm obviously working phones. #TSN

I said it on here before and got laughed at ...their GM has made great moves and turned a last place team into a first place ...for all the poop moves he has made over the years if your just looking at this year he has been one of the best GMs
- Redmile247

It's not just leddy and Boychuk, but also having Nelson and Strome, Kulemin and grabovski (Kulemin has been a fantastic surprise to me, very underrated player) and Halak has been outstanding. If they sign Boychuk they can let visnovsky go after this year and replace him with Reinhart or pulock as well. Essentially everyone important aside from Boychuk is an RFA or signed for several years and we have new ownership and a new building next year. We're finally stable and it's only gonna get better. Thank christ, because the suffering has been unbearable.

I doubt any GM can be that delusional, I bet he's looking more for a 2LC.

Agreed. Dregger's a sensationalist. Plus I think they're invested in Nuge as 1C.

I wonder if MacT would trade Purcell for Gagner?

They should be calling the Yotes about Vermette(I assume the Coyotes would be much more willing to deal him than Hanzal).

Hmmmm, me thinks that whole 'selling high' concept seems to be lost on Oilers management

Isn't he their 1C? Not saying he's untouchable but it definitely can destabilize a team to trade your 1C with no realistic replacement.

They should've been looking at someone like Grabovski in the off-season but that ship has sailed.

Gagner was traded this year, so not quite sure why they would want him back (unless there is another Gagner I don't know about? or I'm missing the sarcasm )

Obviously fans are just fans, but there's actually a few Yotes fans at HF, most of them list Hanzal as untouchable and list Vermette as someone they'd like to move for youth. I believe Hanzal plays with Doan.

Don't think Grabvoski is the answer, they need a true two-way center with some size/grit.

Anyone else notice how good he looked after scoring a goal last game? Finally stopped playing scared/conservative and went after the puck. The kid is ridiculously strong for a 19 y/o in the NHL, the Ducks defense had trouble with him in the cycle game and there was even a situation where Kesler was trying to knock him off the puck and he just bounces off and went the other way while keeping control. He needs to keep playing that way.

Just hope he can carry it over from that game to start this one. If he can't then it's another sign that he's not ready. Gonna be interesting to see.

Perron is actually a decent player.

decent foot speed, good hands. His team is terrible. I think it makes him look worse.

His biggest problem is he's made of glass.

He is worth a top centerman if they're throwing there first round pick.

if, while you're beating the hawks, you could allow kane to score a couple that would really help my pool. would be a nice gesture

I think it is someone like Vermette on a short term contract is exactly what they need.

They have to take some of the pressure off the kids and have a steadying influence.

Expecting Perron to fetch a 2nd line centre sounds to be a bit of a stretch. Maybe a prospect with that potential, but Perron isn't consistent enough to get an established guy.

Edmonton management are so afraid to sign a free agent or nobody wants to play there. Unbelievable that they didn't pickup anyone that could replace Gagner as 2lc and which could make this even worse is if they were counting on Draisaitl to earn that spot out of camp- because they didn't bring anyone else in.

Off topic, but I had looked forward to the big Utica/Syracuse indoor game; my friend gave me his log in to Hockeystreams feed.....and that was...unwatchable. Someone must have smeared vaseline on the lens again, or I am spoiled by HD hockey.

Sorry I might have laid that sarcasm down a bit too thickly. I just find it humorous that the Oilers would be better off with Gagner than Purcell right now. It seems like every move that org makes results in a band-aid solution while creating another gaping wound.
