I am thinking this more and more of a possibility, but they are already losing their identity as the big bad Bruins ...trading chara while a good asset management move would probably not happen - Redmile247
Chara is costing 7 mil when not injured and is slowing down or injured. I can see Oilers being drawn into the lure of the big guy |

Canucks aren't good enough to be in a position to trade good prospects or high picks for a legit top 4 d-man. Gonna have to try to buy-low and/or just find another bottom pairing d-man if they want a bandaid option. - Nucker101
I don't see why it wouldn't be worth while trading a young forward or two for a young top 4 d-men. We have plenty of good young forwards and practically nothing on the backend. I'd like to see the canucks get a myers type and even out their team a bit. Team is looking a bit top heavy..... and we don't want to be like the oilers do we? |

Exactly
One pairing tonight is Bieksa and Sbisa
Hawks could really expose that pairing. If we start losing games and playoff spot starts slipping then Benning won't band aid. He is also very fond of Myers |

I know this might seem like an NHL 15 move but what is stopping Benning from trading a pick or prospect for a d man and then when hamhuis is healthy trade out a d man for a pick or prospect
![](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/lol.gif) reading that makes me laugh but is hamhuis is out long term you need more than a bandaid |

The oilers ?? I think the price tag would be too high ...if chara goes anywhere it will probably be to a team looking for the one piece to contend |

If I was the GM I would offer a first round pick only. He is getting too old to open the vaults. That would also mean I would need 7 mil in cap space. |

What young too 4 d-'men are available? There aren't many and the price to get them usually includes a top 6 forward or bluechip prospect otherwise teams have no incentive to trade them. |

Even if that was the price I would only see a playoff team paying the price ...first rounders are tough to give up for aging d men unless your hoping to go deep in the playoffs |

Would you not trade Lack a first and Vey Jensen or Shink for Myers?
That is you player pick and top prospect. Virtanen and Horvat off the table. |

Myers, and i think his value is a bit depressed since his salary is already fairly high and he's UFA in 5 more years.
I think he'll still cost a lot, but not as much if he was signed to a better contract. |

I honestly think they have never had any intention of trading him ...he should retire a bruin |

A sentimental GM would say that. A realistic GM with his teams cap stretched to the max will say goodbye |

It's not like chara still isn't a good D man and the Bruins aren't a team that could come out of the east ...if their team right now gets healthy they could be in the conversation |

Boychuck and Thorton was a loss of two tough players . Chara out, LUcic is the lone BadBoy now. Even Marchand is quiet. Chara is getting long in the tooth. I don't see them coming out of the East. |
