Anyone suggesting that Kassian isn't an NHL player and/or should be waived is cray cray.

A wakeup call to the AHL would do him a world of good at this point, not to mention that Green is really good at giving players confidence and helping them with their deficiencies. See Shinkaruk, Hunter and Jensen, Nicklas.

He would get claimed by BUF/EDM in a second. They'd have first priority.

Benning would become a laughing stock among GM's.

He is also isn't contributing much at the moment, offensively or defensively, he needs a wake up call. Call up Jensen for 10 games and have Kassian sit for that time, then give Kassian 10 games to show that the fire is back in his belly and that he can contribute.

It's always a tough call with young players. Does a benching fuel or fallow him? He need some confidence and he's playing like a shell of the player we know he can be. I'll say though, it's impossible to know what will get him going as an airchair GM. Better to leave it to Willie and Benning to sort out.

As aside to the 'who sucks now" talk, the Canucks have been doing pretty well, so they may have some time to wait for players like Kassian to find their game.
