I'd do Reimer for Fasth in a heartbeat. Anything to get that guy away from Toronto.

Nope, Toronto would kill Fasth

If I may chime in (you don't have a choice really unless Yeti deletes me) - this whole mess is absolutely a collective issue, a combination of players, coaching and management.

My opinion is it falls squarely at the feet of the men who picked the players they did and the complete lack of later round picks that add depth to the organization. That said, it's time for Katz to clean house, starting with Kevin Lowe and Dallas Eakins.

Most intelligent hockey people, NHL people and otherwise, know you build through the middle of the ice, this is not an unknown Craig McTavish?? The kids they have a very talented but lack the knowledge or leadership to play a structured game, get rid of that coach and trade valuable assests like Hall for a good two-way young NHL center...easier said than done I know.

- LeftCoaster

It seems there are two ways to build a team. From the middle or the net out.

The oilers have failed both areas. Look at the Devils when they had Brodeur, Neidermeir and Stevens.

Today's Habs.

The Penguins have built from the middle.

But it is hard to argue that of all the recent Cup winning teams of the past, they all had one thing the Oilers don't have. Defense.

Ovie - when he shows up he is
Nash - Nope. He's good, but Hall is better
Pacioretty - Nope. Good finisher but no where near the vision of Hall
Kunitz -
Parise - Tough one. I take Hall based on age
Sedin - Not anymore.
Benn - Yes, he's the only one I take head and shoulders above Hall
Marleau - See Kunitz
Zetterberg - Phenomonal skillset, I still take Hall due to age.

- lumlums

While I will never disagree with someone who likes Benn over hall, I think head and shoulders is a bit of an exaggeration.

Edit: misread, sorry

They could get more from Reimer. If your going to trade Reimer straight up for a worse goalie you might as well keep him.

I think he'd be ok as just a backup. What Toronto needs is a defined starter and backup and the media is never going to let that happen as long as Reimer is there. For the record, I don't think Bernier is anything special as a starter but I do think he's a much better option that Reimer. I just think this media invented goalie controversy is bad for the team and Carlyle seems to be content to play right into it.

You need both. Wingers are relatively peripheral; if you can get a couple of good snipers, then good for you, but if you can't keep the puck out of your own net then you're in trouble.

With that in mind, my pick for the cup this year: St Louis.

Fasth + mid round pick for Reimer I'd be okay with. I wouldn't necessarily expect the Reimer/Scrivens tandem to make us that much better. We need to address D before Goalie IMO.

I don't entirely disagree, but name more like you're suggesting you can.

The only ones I disagree with are Kunitz (you know exactly why) and Nash (he's just on a hot streak right now). The rest are all right around or above Hall's level.

- MaximumBone

Schwartz, Tatar, Nyquist and Heatley. just kidding about Heatley. Hall is same class with Boedker, Kane, JVR, etc.

I don't think the rest of the league values Reimer any near what Toronto does. Why would anyone bring him in as a starter? He's had every opportunity to steal that role in Toronto and has dropped the ball every time.

Nyquist is a 700 goal scorer when he retires. Discuss with hate. Now back to the movie.

Add the STL line on to last years team and they'll be hard to stop. If they lose it's likely due to a meltdown by Elliot

Just because I would trade Hall for Kunitz doesn't make Hall better player this year. Hall sucks!

Yeah, no. Nyquist doesn't have half the track record of Hall and isn't better this season. Nor is Tatar. It's hard to argue Schwartz with his current production, but I maintain the argument of sample size. Once he's maintained that level of play through an entire season, then I'll accept it.

Ovie, Nash, Pacioretty, Kunitz, Parise, D. Sedin, Benn, Marleau, and Zetterberg are better just to name few. The point was free all yesterday when Hall was on the ice. There is a reason he didn't even play for Canada in Olympic.
- SPIDEROCKSTAR

i could argue with all of the names mentioned.
for example;
ovie is a right winger.

or like;
parise is better two way, but not the offensive machine that hall can be etc etc etc.
but most are great players so its arguable.

but pacioretty and kunitz don't even belong in this debate. ridiculous.

im not gonna argue this any further though. your skills are weak

Perron for a top line center?!? Since when do 2nd line wingers get you a top center? Unless it includes a big "+".

And how is Eakins and his staff still employed? Time for a significant trade and a new coach(even an experienced interim HC is fine).
