Kane AND a prospect for Eriksson and Krug? That's absurd. Unless it's someone like Klingberg who's not really going to make it in the NHL. Or maybe Kulda because he's in the KHL and not likely going to be back with the Jets. Eriksson's 29, declining, and has one year left on his deal. He's of no value to the Jets unless they could trade him to another team. Doesn't fit at all into their plan. A plan which relies almost entirely on prospects staying in their system. Krug is good but with Morrissey likely on the roster next year, they really have that spot filled in their future. Not that having another good young D isn't a good idea, but they aren't going to give Kane away for that. If it was Boston throwing in the prospect, then I could see it depending on who that was. Including Eriksson in the trade would just be a salary dump to clear some cap space (which is exactly how this fake trade was put together, pick two players whose salaries would give them enough space to fit Kane in) but in reality the Jets are more likely to trade guys in Eriksson's situation than bring them in. Which is why Ladd and Buff are always in rumours. They're getting old and their trade value is only going to drop if they wait too long.
