Unless u plan on trading him or have someone ready to take his place, what other G would be available to replace MAF after the season? The FA crop is not strong this year w/G's - Ur Not Me
Unfortunately no one is available so we are stuck with him unless we try to trade him for more scoring and hope we just outscore everyone! However assuming we do nothing there is no chance for another cup. So what does it matter if we let Greiss play and lose in the first/second round of the playoffs. Counting on MAF in my mind is silly. This team is wasting the Crosby/Malkin years because Fleury is Crosby's friend.
Interesting that all the Pens fans belittle Bylsma and think that Johnston's system is the answer. Here's the question - how many memorial cups did Portland win with Johnston and how has his teams been different than Bylsma.

So if greiss comes in and plays lights out, can we expect him to get more starts? Seems like fleury is either getting shutouts or letting in 3+ goals per game - drummer829
I think his games against Nashville and Montreal were real impressive since his record on the road against playoff teams was so bad. Then he comes back and losses to NYR by 5, losses to the Flyers at home and now plays an unimpressive game against the Islanders at home. The guy is just unpredicable but hardly a person that anyone not being Penguin homer can count on.

I want to like him, and I want to say he's s good goalie, but I just can't. If you were to rank fleury against other playoff teams goalies, he would be ranked towards the bottom. I guess there isn't any option to replace him so I understand the signing, but I still wish they would have waited to see what greiss could do with a bigger opportunity |

No worries.
Well to be fair, Mario at least is not a hypocrite. He gave a great plan for how to improve the game and kept a really clean team for a few years. But no league-wide changed happened and we were kind of forced to bring a guy like Downie in the mix. - YouMeAndDupuis9
Are you kidding me, you guy's had Matt cooke for years ( the dirtiest player in the game), don't tell us mario wanted a clean cut team |

He was also a 30+ point player. He was a poop head at times, but he did do a better job towards the end of his stint here |

None of that other sh*t was as bad as what Boychuk did to Malkin. Could have blow out his knee. I hope the same thing happens to JT tomorrow night. Let's test that surgically repaired knee. - madmike71
You're just an absolute ass hat wanting an injury to occur. And he didn't even have surgery. Just stop. Hate people that wanna see people go down. It's disgusting. |

Guess what boys!?!? I live in Calgary and I'm off to see the Flames play the Devils game! Why does this matter... I last say #68 Mr. Jagr himself 15 years ago in Pitt in a game against Colorado. I can not wait I would love to see him in the black and gold once more. |

I propose that this lineup entry be inducted into the Penguins Hockeybuzz Hall of Fame. Look at it and tell me in truth that it isn't pitch perfect. Brilliant application, five stars. |

I'm all for 14-87-72. But Malkin will only play if he gets the winger he wants and we cater to Malkin so it wont happen. |

Giordano and Brodie are the real deal and one of the best D pairings in the league. They're probably riding their luck with Gaudreau, Monahan and Granlund having to do so much of the work so early, but if they continue to add to their team, they'll be real competitors in a couple years. |

Were you living under a rock when the Pens tried to rehabilitate Cooke? yeah they failed, but then also didnt resign him. Shipped out agitator/cheap shot artist Neal too. So yeah we had them, but Mario did get rid of them too. |

Just watched a recording of the game. I think defensively we were pretty lax on both ends of the ice. In our own end they put on a pressure tight forecheck and our response was poor. Lots of soft touch drop passes and such which the Isles picked off easily. We seem to want to pass the puck to get it going the other way instead of just getting it out when that was all that was available. Also the slow D/D passes behind the net were getting picked off regularly.
We were better in their end but even then there was too much hesitation, especially early in the game. Too many odd man breaks were allowed going the other way. Despres was missed for sure, especially on the wall. The 4th line was pretty much in mud with Sill on that line.
Hopefully they will play a tighter road game tonight. |

it was a stupid comment... but remember that the isles rink erupted in loud cheers when crosby got struck in the face with a puck last year... |

Terrible crowd last night. You'd think people would be excited to see the best team in hockey right now on a Friday night. That's sad. Must be too spoiled |
