This hurts the Club on and off the ice, what a shame; he is a really easy guy to like.

F just F

+ infinity, I hate that for Pascal. And yes , F just F
He's lucky to be alive, maybe the team can use this as motivation?

From a team standpoint this will accelerate our acquisition of a Top 6 player, and since we are somewhat deep in 3rd liners (Where we all projected Dupuis to play) this shouldn't hurt the lineup too much

we will get the cap relief when he is put on LTIR

slim chance we get him back in time for playoffs, since he can still work out and stay in shape

- TheGame316

i think theres a very good chance we never see Pascal Dupuis again in a penguins uniform. this will be his second blood clot, probably wont be ready at any point this year. well over 30... got to think he thinks of his family and himself and just calls it a career.

good show of solidarity from the big guns on the team. Crosby, Geno, Letang, Fleury, and Kunitz all at the press conference to support Dupuis.
- cap1681

Those 6 guys have unfortunately been through a lot of crap in their 5+ years together. Not too mention having to deal with Craig Adams as the 7th wheel that whole time.

First and foremost: this goes beyond hockey. The first concern is for Pascal's health and for his family's spirits.

That being said, the hockey repercussions are pretty extensive for this club. I was starting to think that all we needed was a pretty minor move to be a cup caliber team. Without Pascal

Probably a little early to dicuss this given how many injuries CBJ has, but what would everyong think of Fologino (LW) as a possible Dupuis replacement? UFA this offseason & fits the sort of role Dupuis usually plays.

In all honesty, for The Pens to make a serious run at the cup, The team was going to be best served with Dupuis on the 3rd line wing

Given that we already have a lot of serviceable 3rd line wingers (Comeau, Downie, Spaling) The Cap space provided from the LTIR and the obvious top 6 hole in the lineup may help accelerate the acquisition of legit top 6 help and we now have the cap relief to do so

This news is horrifying. Two in one year, that isn't good. Dupuis has done nothing but work his ass off to be at this level and deserves better. As a player he was good, but there has never been a single negative said about him as a person.

He has a big family and a lot to think about. I hope he finally does the selfish thing, for once in his career, and thinks about himself first.

Abrasive guy with a bit of skill. Nick Foligno is easy to hate when playing against you. I like the idea of bringing him in but don't have a clue what we'd have to give up to get him.

2 blood clots, 1 stroke, and cancer all in the past year. How bizarre is that? Good luck Duper! That being said I'd bump Bennett acquire a top 6 and recall Megna. I'd do all of those pretty quickly. Pretty simple right?

Dupuis news obviously sucks. More for just him and his family than the team. That's out there but this could've been much worse. Glad it was caught.

As far as the team goes, if he's on LTIR that's 4M+ in space. If there was cause for a move to be made before, there certainly is more now.

Who knows? I certainly didn't expect CBJ to be at the bottom of the league & i'm sure neither did they. Its obviously very possible they still make a push for the playoffs & decide to keep him down the stretch.

Just a target I hadn't considered at the start of the season, but may end up being available.

He's the type of forward you'd want on your team for a cup run. I'd go for him if the price was right.

CBJ is in a tough situation as they lost Horton perhaps for good.

Would you acquire Hartnell? lol I hate his guts.

Who would be a good choce for us? I don't want just finesse. I'd go for Kunitzes and Hörnyes types.

Maybe Dustin Brown. He's sucking in LA this year. Change of scenary would be welcomed. Perhaps take a look at Richards and Williams as well.

Hartnell? Absolutely no way.

If it was Hartnell 5 yrs ago, he'd be a great pick-up. But he is very much on the decline & is signed for 4more yrs at $4.75M/yr. Brutal contract.

LA won't break up the mix they got going.....

I'd make a hard push for Perron right now, not much else out there of interest

I wish Hossa didnt have so many years left, I think Chicago would let him go cheap

Absolutely not on both Brown and Richards for me as well.

Same basic reason as Hartnell as well. Both could be solid players, but their contracts are just so long and such high dollar values that they are brutal overall.

+1.

This sucks. The only good thing about this is that like Maata's issue, they caught it before it became something worse.

For sure. Wish Pascal the best. One of my favorite players if for nothing else than his work ethic and personality. (hence the username)

Definitely worth noting from the hockey perspective, as you alluded to, there now is no pressing need to move significant salary in any trade. We've got lots of cap space to play with and the need has become even more magnified. I think JR may have already been throwing some ideas out at the GM meetings but we may ride with what he have for a little while longer. Dumoulin, Samuelsson, and draft picks would be the ideal assets to move.

You mentioned him before, but I just don't see how his body holds for 82gms plus playoffs. He hasn't played significant Playoff time since the '12-'13 season. Also, he woudln't be much as use on the PP w/ the 1st unit pretty much set & killing it.

Not saying he has no worth, but just that I think there are better options. than Jags.

Still think Jurco would be an ideal target.

Marcus Foligno (buffalo), McGinn, or Rattie would be good gets.

We need to fill a long-term hole and I dont mind taking a skill player over a grinder/tweener type. Actually saw an interesting 3 way deal to get us Yakupov but pretty far fetched...
