Im going to eat some crow today, Sutturd has been great all year; he deserves credit where credit is due.

That wasn't easy for me to say, so now all of the MAF bashers should suck it up and do the same.

F Sutter

- nbartley9

This is like the Grinch finding out he has a heart.

I never had the same hatred for Sutter as you (i dont think anyone did) but I'm happy he's played really well this year. I think he's a nice 3rd line center right now and I say no trading Sutter for a forward at this point. Need a D for F trade...and I'd love a deal to be based around Dumoulin for a similar NHL-ready winger.

This is nuts.

He's not the first Pens player to suffer from something similar.
Is it something in their diet? Supplements?

Very, very weird.

Just bad luck. It was Vokoun last year, and he had had a history of them.

Wasn't Letang stroke related to blood clots as well?

Anyway, bizarre coincidence to say the least.

No, Letang's stroke was related to a small hole in his heart he's had since birth.

They are saying he had one in January as well after his knee injury. This could be career threatening

They believe Letang's was more because of the small hole he has in his heart that is usually supposed to close when you start growing.

but yea...

Vokoun: blood clot
Maatta: cancer
Dupuis: blood clot
Letang: stroke

probably missing something but just crazy what has been going on.

Met dupuis once, great guy. seems like a great husband and father from watching him on 24/7... just a killer for a guy like him.

Dupuis works his tail off to get back in the game, and then this news today. Very heart breaking and I wish him a speedy recovery. The bright side is that the clot was caught, before something a lot worse could have happened. Bennett has got to stay healthy to provide the necessary forward depth.

Every time the Penguins seem to get some F depth, something crazy happens.

Hope Dupuis gets well soon!

This hurts the Club on and off the ice, what a shame; he is a really easy guy to like.

but on a side note, teammates got to feel good in terms of their feelings towards the medical staff... very obvious that all of them are good at their jobs. i remember a lot of people questioned the medical staff back when crosby got his concussions. i think they have changed doctors in the last year or two.

My wife has the genetic condition that causes them, and has to be on blood thinner permanatley, i fear if he tests for it, which I'm sure that test will be coming soon, that may be it for his playing days. And that would be a damn shame if true

From a team standpoint this will accelerate our acquisition of a Top 6 player, and since we are somewhat deep in 3rd liners (Where we all projected Dupuis to play) this shouldn't hurt the lineup too much

we will get the cap relief when he is put on LTIR

slim chance we get him back in time for playoffs, since he can still work out and stay in shape

good show of solidarity from the big guns on the team. Crosby, Geno, Letang, Fleury, and Kunitz all at the press conference to support Dupuis.

I find it hard to believe he will be back. You figure Vokoun's was caught a little over a month earlier into the season last year and he never made it back. He was close, but never actually made it into a game.
