Where's everyone?

Someone said Martin/Sutter for Richards/Williams.....I don't think it's a bad deal for the short term. We'd gain a lot of cup experience and character with this, something we've been lacking year after year.

I could see us winning a couple cups with Richards and Williams complementing Crosby, Malkin, Kunitz and Hörnqvist.

I don't love this deal but I don't hate it either.

I want no part of Mike Richards. He is a shell of his former self out there. That contract actually makes me cry too.

If you make a move, you are going to move picks, prospect, and player to get a good return. You have the assets to make the deal. I still think that Martin, Dumoulin combo can get you Nino from the Wild. That type of young power wing with a left shot would be huge for our top six.

I'm talking about cup experience the only reason I'd think about bringing in Richards and Williams.

Richards has 2, Williams 3. Both have been great in the playoffs EXACTLY where we lack EVERYTHING.

Richards has been on a fast decline for a while here though and that contract is mighty long for what his production can be.

I would love Williams though, not sure who wouldn't. I just, Richards to me is riding along playing like a great third liner at a 5.75mill cap hit for five more years. I don't think Pittsburgh can afford that.

Completely agree on Richards. He's no where near the player he was for Philly. Very inconsistent player.

I'm not so sure on your second point. An UFA and an unproven prospect is probably not going to get you a good, young forward. I watched Colorado last night, they seem to need a defensive infusion.

Other than last night they are struggling to score which was their problem last year as well. Which is one reason they went and got Parise and Nino so I just can't see them trading away Nino for more d. They would be spending like 12-13 million a year on 2 d-men.

I think they are the most likely team. As of now this year has been a bust for them already and they need defensive help badly.

Check out their shooting%. Their top guys are all under 10% which will raise. Once that happens, their offense will be very good to go along with their puck possession. They are deep at forward, pretty dang deep. If they make any move it would be for a veteran D to help with their fluxuating goaltending situation.

That is why when they go on a hot offensive tear in the next two months, you bring up the trade proposal. Don't let one hat trick from last night let you think he is untouchable.
*edit* They got Nino to clear Clutterbuck's spot. Nino was a failing prospect before coming to Minny

They thought they had depth at forward position last year too but the goals dried up. I agree with you that they should have a good offense but until I see their young players become more efficient and perform when top line guys are out I will be hesitant. They are my second favorite team in the league and would love to see these young players step up this year and if they do they may need goalie help before d.

That is why I thought a very good all around puck moving defender would be high up on their list of trade targets. Guys like Paul Martin can really stimulate offense. They are excellent in transition, the cycle game, and play sound defense.

Could you imagine Martin playing with Dumba? That would be sick.

*I still do not think we trade Martin btw. I think somehow and in someway we unload Scuderi for a small sum and make a move for a tweener winger to provide depth on the left wing.

Why does cup experience matter? At 2 and 3 cups respectively, what if they decide eh been there done that, ready to be done in April? Scuds has 2 cups and 3 finals, his experience didnt mean crap last year. Ill take young and hungry over old and experienced. I would also take Sutter over Richards. Almost 1/2 the price, a bit better of a player at this point.

People compare anothny Angello 6.4 197 pounds to a young USA born center ryan kesler jr you got a steal in the draft and he a winner like towes. He wears #17 like kesler and plays like look for yourself you tube
- Palmer117

Big body for sure... his team website lists him at 6' 5" 195 lbs, but those comparisons are a joke. "He's a winner like Toews"? What exactly has he won?

He has some years to develop and might be something (I hope he is), but if he was the next Ryan Kesler or Jonathan Toews, he probably would have been drafted higher than the end of the 5th round. Oh, and he wears #18 at Omaha, not #17.

Suter? Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind the pens getting one of the young forwards from Minny but just thinking from the wilds perspective. Florida has a few younger guys that may be interesting.

Already plays 28 minutes a night. They need another legit top 4 D to help out.

The problem with Florida is you can't get anyone to waive their NTC to go there.

Yeah good point. I always overlook that damn pesky NTC. ha

Pumped there is a game tonight even though I can't watch it. Hoping Bennett comes out flying and interested to see the d pairings.

It is fun to debate trades otherwise, see how others view strengths and weaknesses.

As for tonight, it should be a big test. Pens need a bounce back game and Toronto just slaughtered Boston. Bennett was pretty good last game, he should be top six though. I didn't think the D were changing at all?

You mean exactly like the Pens? Letang and Martin take up $12.5M. Plus Ehrhoff and Scuderi at $7.4M.

Still think theres a legit chance that all the Martin possible extension talk is hogwash. No one is going to come out and say they want to test the open market on public record at the beginning of the season. That's a lose-lose for everyone.

Yeah I didn't see the entire Rangers game (prob for the better) but seems to be a general consensus that Bennett needs to go up to the second line.

After that drubbing by the rangers it seemed like MJ was going to shuffle a bit only thing i meant by the d change.
