Ive been doing some research and I beleive that when is all said and done, Gonchar is gonna play on the 2nd pair of D with Emelin.
Markov-Subban
Emelin-Gonchar
Tinordi-Gilbert
(Weaver)
Even if Gonchar is 40, people are forgetting that the season just before the last, when Gonchar was with Ottawa (age of 38-39), he was the 2ND MOST USED player (right behind a certain Erik Karlsson) with a 23:59 TOI , 27 pts in just 45 games (only Kyle Turris had more points than him in the shortened season) and a +4.
Yes, he has aged and I am not expecting him to play 24 min/game and score 50 pts, but I beleive that Gonchar can easily play 18 minutes/game and possibly give us a good 30 pts for the remaining games. People are really underestimating his capabilities just based on his age as if he did not already proove he can performe at an old age... |

What do you guys think of Gonchar? I think he's poop on the D side. Was he brought in for points? Who does he play with? |

I never thought of Moen as the ball and chain most did. Overpaid, ya. 4th liner, ya. But decent on the PK, easily replaced etc. but I never heard anything bad about him and he certainly stepped up and got his lid knocked iin enough for some respect. - Pie
I have nothing against moen.
But he's exactly what we blame weaver and gonchar for. An old guy taking ice time that could be given to a rookie. |

Also I have moar to say. The treatment that Gorges got when he was traded by fans was ridiculous...(frank)ing guy wore it with pride. How can there be hate for that? I get the $s game and Weaver is fine enough in that role yadda yadda. If anything I applaud Gorges for telling the leafs to go (frank) themselves. (frank)ing team is getting softer. |
