But if we are going all time here, have to go with the Avs top pairing during their last cup.

Now its going to be Gonchar Subban - DDM-Coga
If that's true, Montreal should just stop pretending and dress 18 forwards. They're clearly trying to adopt the "Best defense is a good offense" axiom. |

I'd say Bobby Orr/Whoever you decided to throw beside Bobby Orr |

It's definitely J Bouw and Pietrangelo. To many people write them off because they don't produce a lot of goals, but that's why they're defenseman and not forwards. The 1-2 punch of this guys doesn't even have to be physical because they're pure skill, right place-right time defensemen. |

I find it outrageous that Giordano/brodie wasn't picked by anyone.
stralman - BestRapperAlive
To be fair, in the question he sent to us for our Hotstove topic, he asked us not to go to those guys automatically. Plus, yes, they have for sure been the best duo so far, but are they really the best going forward? Will they keep it up? Hard to say only 15 games in. |

While Stralman and Hedman played well together, I think the sample size is to small to make that call. - Artyukhin76
I agree. Stralman has been great for the last two years, but I remain skeptical about a guy who suddenly at 28 becomes one of the leagues best d after being a journyman his whole career. He has no doubt been great, but NYR had a phenomenal group of defenseman - playing with/behind Staal, Girardi, McDonough will make anyone look good , as will playing Hedman (who many people consider the best all-round defensemen in hockey) I am not saying Stralman- Hedman is a bad choice, but what have they played , 4 , 5 games together? |

Hedman-Stralman?
Well, that'd be nice. But the sample size is 5 games, and Heddy ain't going to be back for another few weeks, so lets all just have a cup of tea and calm the eff down before we anoint them the dominant D-pairing in the league, k?
Just like preseason- everyone over-rating the Bolts. We're good, sure, but even in our win streak we've had a lot of things that look like they need some cleaning up. Again, the Bolts are good, but we haven't proven "greatness" yet. |

By the way not a diss of Doughty who anyone would take in a heartbeat, or St. Louis top pair or any other pairing, however, lets see....As a pair in the short sample so far a combined 6 goals, 11 assists +11 7pp points and a game winner, not to mention, coming in and completely changing a teams dynamic. My reply is only about the season so far, not what has been accomplished in the past, but I'll take Leddy and Boychuck who are both going to get huge pay days at the end of this season if they can keep up this pace! |
