In 14 games 46 goals have been scored, 21 of these goals or 45% are from the 5 new skaters.
Vrbata 6
Bonino 7
Vey 4
Dorsett 2
Sbisa 2 - A_SteamingLombardi
Benning's done good, Vey, Bonino and Sbisa were all through trades at the draft and Miller, Vrbata and Dorsett were great signings. We've got some pieces going forwards, we still need to address the lack of a potential 1C and D to take over for Hamhuis and Bieksa in 2-3 years. |

What was up with the refs tonight...
1. Quick faceoffs
then...
1. Totally screwed the pooch of a late 3rd period dive
2. Totally screwed another pooch on a later 3rd period offside
3. Totally screwed, blewed and tattooed the later later 3rd period icing
4. Totally, completely screwed, blewed, tattoed and thank you sir may I have another on the empathic goal call when anyone watching knew it was over. |

10 wins or 100% are from the new goalie. - Scooby_Doo
Of the 46 goals scored, 21 or 45% of them were assisted by the twins.
Edit: I stand corrected. The twins have assisted on 41.9% of total goals scored. |

* JARED MCCANN did not dress for the Hounds on Wednesday Night. It was explained as "precautionary" as he had a bad sore throat.
McCann missed the Vancouver Canucks Main Training Camp and the first five games for the Hounds earlier this season due to mono. |

missed the game due to dinner meeting. I keep hearing Burrow wasnt that great.
just over 14 minutes of ice time. 1 assist (on gwg) +1 on the night, 1 hit, 1 shot and 5 blocked shots (tied with Sbisa for most on the night). Stats dont say he was terrible at all.
Would like to have seen how Horvat did in his second game. Faceoff wasnt as friendly tonight for him and had limited minutes. Sounds like he was solid? |

Its kinda funny that at the end of last season I was saying that Burrows was at the end of his run and criticized him and Fosco was pi$$ed enough to make an appearance. This is one of those times I wish I was wrong about Burrows. He is a heart and soul guy. I really liked his game but he has lost a step. He had a few gaffs last night but overall he wasn't the worst on the ice. He does play well with Higgins and Bonino though and there is a lot of chemistry there. I am not ready to crucify him mostly because he is adapting and skating hard(even though he's slow). He is still a great shot blocker as well a extremely good on the PK. An excellent defensive player. If he isn't hurting the team give him a chance. If we can bring in someone that can fill his spot and play it better then do it. It is a toss up for me on what to do with Burr.
Watching the game last night the thing I noticed the most with the team as a whole was they were getting out played and badly at times but they were adapting. This Willie Desjardins team is able to find ways to win even when its not just the other team out beat you. (see Beatles post) |

Last nights victory was fun but don't lose sight that we were grossly outplayed. Miller stole that game.
Canucks are exceeding expectations but they are about three players short of being an elite team |

I wonder if Torts looks at this and says to himself, Look I was right. this team needs new blood. The core is stale. |

I loved the Miller signing once it happened. Never in a million years did I think he would play like this out of the gate though holy man. We should all just enjoy the ride for the moment |

He is going to LA next. I wonder if he plays more relaxed after he sees his wife. |

Agreed. I take solace in that if this game was played last year, it would have been 3-0 for the sharks after the first with virtually no chance for a comeback.

Truth. The first twenty minutes, and last four minutes were flat out ugly. Really, we had no business winning that game, but like you- I'll take it.
That said, kind of a bunch of sheep-dip to make excuses for your team, but when they loosened up and let themselves play their own system, and have their identity, there was absolute streaks of brilliance- though few. I think the performance from the Sharks was as good as they get; I think the Canucks, on the other hand, weren't playing to the capacity of their skills....not sure the reason. If this gets them over the mindf*ck of 'we can't really beat this team' I think we'll see an even faster, closer game next time around. |

Kept on thinking "any given Sunday"... Miller has been very good in the crease, that helps and the addition of Vrbata means another finisher in the lineup. And when I say finisher, that is in addition to Daniel who may have changed his game a bit.
The team has to put the effort in to win but they have looked good at times and as long as they can play against teams with speed, you can't count them out of the playoffs. As mentioned earlier in the discussion, this team has been adapting on the fly at times and doing so effectively. |

Our defense core is not good enough now. Will be interesting to see what Willie and the staff can do with what we have. They need to address this in the coming drafts, so Bo and the kids have help ( Even then it's not soon enough as they develop slower ). There is just no way you trade / overpay for D right now.
Losing Bourdon really hurt this organization on alot of levels. The personal loss is tremendous, but obviously think about where he could have been by now.
Still laughing how I got torched on this board by a nazi about Bonino. Sure looks good now eh boys? |

The Bonino trade just should have included a bit more coming our way, but it is working out thus far.
Hopefully we can draft a future top 4 dman or 1c and sign a free agent or two if needed.
At least we are accumulating some prospects and even if they aren't all of what we needed, could be part of the puzzle and help with a move later to get what we do need.
At least we can see some change on the team and possible future moves with Benning at the helm. |

Trades are always difficult because, each club doesn't want to LOSE a trade. In all fairness the club blew it by not getting DSP in the deadline deal as well as not furthering it's position in the draft. I never questioned what Bonino could bring. |
