You almost have to believe they're going to have to find a way to move a contract in the offseason, maybe a buyout, before he can perform any real surgery to the roster

The guys coming off the books aren't enough to matter, and if Del Zotto puts together another 60-70 games like this and they do want to re-sign him, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say $1.3 ain't gonna get it done

That's the results for the entire line, including whatever defenseman were out with them. Team game.

I don't like the message it sends to the players breaking up that 2nd line. They played strong two way hockey for several games. Potted some goals. Maybe still working on the chemistry. The coach rips up the line for a guy that apparently doesn't need to prove through play that he can improve the situation. He's annointed the spot for whatever reason.

I had an open mind last season, but by the end of the year, I felt they were winning in spit of him, rather than because of him.

I'm not a fan. I don't like the way he utilizes his roster, don't like his line juggling and don't care for his bias for veterans, size and grit over young, speedy and skilled.

A guy like Rinaldo can make mistake after mistake, and be totally ineffective, yet stays in lineup. A guy like Akeson gets buried for whatever reason. A guy like VandeVelde comes in and does little, but gets shifts with the top line.

Akeson get's buried because he just hasn't played very well. And overall this season, Rinaldo has been a much better player. Akeson is non competitive away from the puck. He isn't strong in puck battles, he isn't strong on the forecheck, and he's basically bringing nothing to the ice. He deserves to be scratched.

Now that being said, based on last night's game. A lot of players should be joining him in the press box, but that obviously can't happen.
