I've been very very impressed with MDZ. I hope we keep him around a few more years.

For you guys busting on Berube I'd just say he is in a bad spot. It's a puzzle where the pieces don't fit. He is stuck with those players.

Hextall tried hard to move VLC this summer with no takers. They have to play him as a scoring line center and on the PP for him to do anything.

I agree about not putting him on the #1 PP last night and when the game got towards the end Beroob put BSchenn back on the #1 unit. It took too long but he sees it. I think it was VLC's awful cross blue line, weak pass that resulted in a short hand breakaway that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

The 2nd and 3rd lines are not doing a good job holding onto the puck long enough to set up a shot and get players in front of the net. There is a glaring lack of puck skill on the team. When they play and skate well like the first period against LA they can overcome this, but it's not realistic to expect that elevated play from this group every game.

If he keeps this up, I think they'll try to re sign him.. wonder if he would want to stay or try the open market.

Is he really? I didn't know that.. Bodes well for the Flyers then to keep him if he keeps this solid play up.

He has been very good providing puck movement and skill out of the D zone. They badly needed a guy with his skill set. I'd give him a shot with Coburn when everyone is healthy and play Amac with Luke or with Schultz.

that is what I'd try

not sure if MDZ in the defensive zone can handle the togh match ups Coburn usually gets, but I am not a huge fan of Coburn Amac (so far, they haven't had a fair chance really)

Another good write up, Bill. Fun game last night.
- Panthers88

your D is very solid.

The top five at least.

Gudbranson looked good last night as did Kulikov.
Ekblad is going to be great.
You know what you get from Brian Campbell.
I love Willie Mitchell when he is healthy.

Lu is also really good. The Flyers made it a bit easy for him, but he was in the right position all night and made all the saves you would expect him to make.

I'd say with confidence that the Panther's goaltending and D are ahead of the Flyers right now.

I said last night that the Flyers played down to the Panthers' level. I was wrong. The Panthers simply outplayed the Flyers. The Flyers failed to execute and the Panthers did.

I am getting so tired of seeing them play the first half of a game with only registering 10 shots or less on goal.

Also very tired of seeing our defenseman back away from the offensive blue line so quick instead of having some confidence to pinch a bit and keep some puck possession in the O Zone. How many times they back away from the blue line and have the puck squeak out across with flyers trapped in deep and with no pressure on them hammer it right back in (non line change) and have to wait for everyone to clear the zone and allow the opposition to ease out with no pressure? That is a big problem for a team that struggle with puck possession. Would like to see these D men have some patience, allow the forwards to clear the zone and re enter with some speed. We cross the blue line and stop skating and dump it in with no speed on the fore check so many times.
