He should have bit him as well.
- VanHockeyGuy

If you break it down even slower you can see the bite. He has gotten so good at it you won't see it with the naked eye. Vampire esc speed.

I don't give a fock about embellishment.

Embellishment doesn't get suspensions.

Hit to the head does

- soad_live

Starting this season embellishment will be fined though. Emelin is a known flopper, he better be careful. He's lucky the refs missed his flop last night. He embellished it big time. He tried to dodge the shoulder to shoulder hit then got grazed on the head as a result of not being coordinated enough to get out of the way of Burrows.

A guy got hit by a skater, his head was hit (who knows how hard but there was contact) and he went hard to the ice off balance.

Yes I believe that could shake a player up enough to warrant him taking some time to get up - maybe he got the wind knocked out of him, maybe he had his bell rung...but its not like he embellished a non-hit. He got hit, he went down, he stayed down - even if you're right doesnt change the fact that the hit itself was late and high. Stupid argument and dumb to automatically assume you know its embellishment.

Oh, Daren (frank)ing Dreger has an opinion?! Why didn't you say so! He's ALWAYS right. Big deal, there's also people who don't think he'll get suspended. If it was such a bad hit, you wonder why none of his team mates stood up for him? On other teams guys go after opposing players even for clean hits. Yet nobody stood up for Emelin on this terrible, dirty hit. Seems like some issues in the Canadiens locker room.
- hankthetank

Dreger is the biggest turd out there.always late to the party with regurgitated info gleaned from other sources.

But what is worse are those stupid Messier commercials from Rogers. Are the people at Rogers so f ing stupid that they put Messier on the screen in B.C.?

Oh I know it's not decided yet, but like I said, just wait. It's not like other peoples are not saying it too :

Thanks for being a condescending ***** with the language thing by the way.

Classic Habs fan crying like big babies. Remember that check Emelin laid on Lucic a couple weeks ago? It may have been legal but in open ice it was wreckless and dangerous. What do the nutbars in the Bell arena do? Laugh hysterically. Same player flops around the ice like the dirtbag that he is and out come the torches and pitchforks. Most ridiculous fans in pro sports.

Man. Unbelievable.

In which blog did you here Emelin was a flopper?? HF Boards??

Pathetic.

In the name of homering, i'll keep acting like an idiot. Burrows will get suspended and you probably will still say it's not a hit to the head.

Im not upset but its posts like the Bruins fans above that make hockey fans look like dummies...

Like i said originally it is what it it - he'll probably get a few games and who knows how the game would have ended if it was called but regardless no need to spew all this garbage especially about the guy getting hit lol.

Usually this is reserved for the guy laying the dirty hit.

The hit wasn't devastating. It was directly to the head though. It doesn't need to be extremely hard to be dangerous.

It was a late hit (anyone can argue with that??)

It was directly to the head (argue?? really)

So it is punishable and he will get 2 games.

- soad_live

The sad thing is that if the league hadn't stepped in here nobody would be talking about this incident, NOBODY.

That's how thin this decision is... Shit, Emelin even returned to the game afterwards!

Which blog? All you have to do is watch him play to see him flopping around.

You better call the cops on Burrows!
- hankthetank

I don't think we should play that card.
It seems like the VPD were "flooded" with calls about the McSorley/Brash incident, so there are a few glass houses here in the GVA when it comes to that topic.

Yep they are, just wish they had more defensive depth coming down the pipeline. Wouldn't it be nice to have a Darnell Nurse in the system? Hope it's a D heavy draft and Benning plays his cards well and gets one early for a change.
- VanHockeyGuy

We actually do have quite a few D-men in the system, not of Nurses calibre but guys who have a shot of being NHL regulars.

Corrado at the top but I still think Andersson has a chance as well, he is very responsible and has quietly put up two respectable seasons in his first 2 years in the AHL, not a lot of points but was a plus player on two pretty poor teams.

Hutton I think has the most upside of any guys in the system right now but also is a pretty safe pick to make the show based on his skills and size.

Guys like Subban, Tommernes and Cederholm are boom or bust guys, I think with Cederholm likely having the best chance and Tommernes the worst.

Then we have Forsling and Tyramkin who while we don't know enough about yet have time to develop their game, both are playing in men's leagues currently. I know Tryamkin is committed to Russia for a couple more years but seemed willing to make the jump at some point.

So what??

So a man intent to kill someone but misses. He shouldn't go to prison??

Good thinking.

in real time it was 1- 1 half seconds. First contact was with the shoulder. Emelin was just in a really awkward position. I don't think it was dirty at all. Burrows was just finishing his check. There's a reason why he hasn't been suspended ever! the guy knows how to go up to the edge and not go over.

I thought the purpose of this board was for consultation in discipline determination. Cases are presented and then decisions made.

Officiating is such a joke. Whether Burrows is within the lines or going over the line, it is hard to say because the lines are always moving and different treatment for different players and organizations. Late or not, how many late hits do we see that are just part of the game- no call, no injury - just finishing the check.

Rules have become so subjective when it comes to enforcement.

I really don't care if Burrows gets a game or two, we will get to see someone else in the lineup like Jensen or Horvat.

LOL Big sample.

That being said. I think it is way worst to hit the head or the balls with a stick than embellish things don't you think??

LOL, that was only ONE GAME and there's 2 dives caught on tape. Emelin is one of the biggest floppers in the league, even you must know that?

When it happens that fast on the ice 2 refs see the play. I assume they saw if anything it was interference by Burrows and decided not to call because of the embellishment. When I first saw it that is what I saw but when it was broken down later it was a hit to the head. Refs made a choice on the ice based on what they saw at game speed. He knew Burrows was coming thats why he made the bad pass he was hurried on the play and made a mistake. Many factors will affect the outcome of this hit. This isn't just a cut and dry situation regardless that he got hit in the head. You don't crucify someone based on something that happens that fast, so fast the refs either didn't see it or saw something else.

I've seen much worse hits not suspended, and far less dangerous hits suspended so who knows

I say give him one game to make Habs fans happy and not to piss off Nucks fans too much

But being the nhl they will probably suspend burrows for 5 games and fine Emelin for embellishing
