So

Late hit

Hit to the head

3 games suspension

Only Vancouver fans disagree

Nothing to see here

That being said, congrats for the two points. Habs will eat you alive in Mtl.

Good luck making the playoffs homies.

3 games for a hit that doesn't injure a guy seems ridiculous. Duncan Keith only got 5 games for deliberately elbowing Daniel in the face and giving him a concussion. Ah well, the wheel of justice has spoken. Time to end the Oilers hot streak.

Some chat from Elliotte Friedman this morning…

“I mean, Berglund’s name has been out there. I know, like last year, I believe both Kesler and Garrison were approached about going to St. Louis and wouldn’t waive their no-trades for those particular situations. And I know that Vancouver liked Berglund. So I think there was some potential in the air there.”

“I believe it. I mean, they should ask high. And they traded some of their No. 1s for Miller last year so I wouldn’t be surprised. But like I said, I know that Vancouver likes Berglund. I know that there was some talk last summer with Kesler and Garrison. They wouldn’t waive to go there. I wouldn’t be surprised if that kind of a thing was discussed.”

Canucks could use a big body center to match up with the Thornton's, Getzlafs, Kopitars, and Carters of the West. Too bad he wasn't better in the faceoff circle

The inconsistency's with discipline can be frustrating for sure, but whatever, it's outta anyones control here.

I really don't think Benning is looking at any big moves as of now. WD is just finding out where guys fit in his line up. More pieces will fall into place and holes will open up and down the line up in a month or so.
- thundachunk

And I think we already have a few guys in the minors who can fill those holes. If this team trades it better be for a game changer.

We seem to be without a line/guy that can play that checking role?

I have no problem with the league suspending Burrows. The problem I have is with the leagues inconsistency. It really is laughable. Nothing is ever cut and dry but how they vilify some and others the put on their kid gloves for others is an embarrassment. Its kind of a slap in the face to fans thinking we don't see the transparency.

Yep...two sets of rules.

McGratton ended Alberts career pretty much and no suspension too I think...

Looked at the standings for the first time this season and was surprised to see the top three in the conference:

1. Anaheim
2. Nashville
3. Vancouver

Didn't expect that (well, anaheim was expected).

This thread is why Fosco doesn't post anymore (among others), it made me throw up in my mouth a little.

Common misconception, a wine can be both ripe and fruity and still dry. Dryness refers to the amount of residual sugar, which for quality red wines is almost always negligible. Wines like Apothic etc are actually sweet with upwards of 20 grams per litre of residual sugar.

Definitely 3 $30 bottles, unless it is a fancy dinner party and you're breaking out the fine china and silver, or if like Lefty you make too much $ and $90 for a beverage is no big deal

Dill pickle chips and cider sounds like a great pairing. A few new beers I've tried recently: Hoyne Helios, a traditional German style golden lager $6.75, Phillips Octofox, a less bitter IPA (8 different types of hops) and a Scotch ale (forget the name). All were excellent.

If you are a Whiskey fan, I recently attended the Raise the Macallan event, where we tried the Gold, Amber, Sienna and Ruby. Sienna was probably my favorite, but all were excellent, on the mellow side with not much peat smoke. They also served a whisky sour made with Macallan Amber, Apricot brandy, simple syrup and lemon juice, so good!

Another interesting note is that Minnesota has only 17 goals scored against (in 9 games played). They are tied with one other team for fewest goals against… Florida.

Difference is Minny has scored 31 goals and Florida has scored 12.

I'm sure Lu is ecstatic.

It is not a sport, it is a business. We are constantly reminded of this because we are constantly disappointed by inconsistency in the application of rules from start to finish in a game and treatment of players and teams.

The inconsistency, time and again, slowly kills the passion of fans.

It's disappointing, but I'm not sure it "kills the passion of fans". If that were true, there wouldn't be many fans left. If fans can survive multiple lock outs, we shouldn't have a problem surviving a maybe-too-long-but-still-deserved suspension to Burrows.

What kills the passion, at least for me, are things like yesterday's thread. The whole, I disagree with you so you must be a retard, way of thinking. That and Torts.

Problem is they keep hiring goons to dispense justice. They should hire someone that has never played hockey to interpret the rules and act consistently.

As long as you avoid the reds. Not because they're bad, but their whites are so good.

From the new Oilers blog:

"The fact is also that the Oilers SHOULD have beaten the Vancouver Canucks in regulation once already this year but the Refs allowed a blatant hand pass that directly resulted in a goal. If the Canucks weren't such blatant cheaters in addition to divers and thugs (looking at you Kassian) Edmonton would already be past this conversation. Sadly that isn't the case. "

When I say, kills the passion for fans, I am thinking the die hard fans. When work was slow, I'd take a few hours of owsy time to watch a game- stupid stuff happens, you start rethinking your decisions.

After the cup run and disappointment, you reflect on Marchand speed bagging Daniel and you are left scratching your head.

The reality that there are "have to call" penalties like delay of game over the glass calls and then you have the arbitrary calls refs decide whether to call depending on the stage of the game and what they may or may not have called before and if the game is getting out of hand or whatever. May as well be wrestling and have the ref distracted while the Cuban Assassin uses a foreign object on Jake the Snake... you end up with that same disbelief or this is a joke feeling when stuff happens.

If the game was called more like other sports, more consistency with penalties start to finish, then I think it would be a cleaner game with more people on the right side of the line as opposed to playing on the line.
