Of course they make mistakes...I get it.
But from my previous post:
'Like I said the refs made no call as it it was too inconclusive to make one. Because from both sides of the ice one looked like it was a dive and the other looked like accidental contact (to the thead) from the shoulder because of Emelin's balance. Yes the hit was a tad late I will give them that...but that's it.' - LordHumungous
To me Emelin was off balance and small push would have been enough to knock him over, Burrows didn't need to go all aggro on him there. |

Derp. Act like I'm the only one between the two of us making a for sure statement. You clearly stated it was an non-intentional hit. Yeah, I'M the official. Don't act like a saint when you're reacting like a dippoop just like me. Hypocrite. - CreepyPasta

Durrhurr. I'm dumb because my team is in the toilet. Derp. Way to act like a child, insulting someone's team that doesn't play well. Would I be any different if I said all Canucks fans were idiots because, unlike the Oilers, they haven't won a single Stanley Cup EVER, while the Oilers have won 5? Does that make your response an absolute starting point of stupidity? No, it doesn't.. but it's close just because of your reasoning. |

Relax, Danglepuss. Burrows was likely not going for his head and was just finishing a check. If he was going for the head, he would have gone for the head big time. Or do you think Burrows is such a smart player that with a split second to think he thought to himself, "I have a chance to knock this guy out, but I don't want to get the refs attention so I'll make sure I glance his shoulder first and then go for his head. Yeah, that's what I'll do."
That said, if the league wants to make a statement so be it, but there will be dozens of these types of hits throughout the year, so we should expect the same penalties. Can hardly wait to hear the whiny Oilers when their turn comes. |

Doesn't a cup win only count if you were alive to see it? I know the Canucks have been a pathetic franchise for much of their history, but who really cares what a team won if you weren't there to enjoy it. |

Who says I wasn't alive to enjoy it. I've watched each one of the Oilers cups as it happened, with vivid memories of who I was with and how it happened. Do you remember the Vancouver Millionaires? |

They'd have to throw a hit to throw a dirty one. If Chara can be investigated by police for trying to kill Pacioretty then why couldn't Burrows also think in a split second and try to take his head off? Maybe Burrows isn't as big as Emelin and hit his shoulder on his way up to his head?
If the league wants poop like this gone then throw the book at them. |

It's in slow motion of course it's going to be more seconds then real time. - pker2theend
Wasn't even a full 2 Mississippis in slow motion. Emelin should have got a fine or suspended for leaning out and putting himself in a vulnerable position. |

What does Chara's hit have to do with this?
Yes, if the league wants this out, then suspend Burrows. I guarantee, however, there will be dozens of these types of hits during this year. They must all be dealt with the same way. Just promise to praise the league office when an Oiler does it. |

100% Agreed. I think 3 games is a game or 2 too much, but with the new rules they need a guideline. As long as it is consistently called for the season then it is all good.
A year or 2 ago I don't think this is even a penalty. |

You said there was no way Burrows could make a split second decision but with Chara they determined he could make a split second decision and manged to get Police involved. People make split second decisions all the time.
I will gladly praise the NHL if an Oiler does something dirty. I hated Raffi Torres and I don't like dirty players, all they do is take the job of a real hockey player and leave their team short-handed. |

You're a sad, pathetic man with all your hating on a Friday night.....no Halloween parties for you?
Mine was great, took my newborn out on his first...... - chompsey
Spent the night passing out candy with the misses, tomorrow is the office party for halloween to be honest. I'm just drunk and looking for a fight, so, figured I'd argue my side here. So, why not? I think Burrows was head hunting and can't believe the audacity of the Canucks' fans calling everyone idiots for thinking otherwise. That's what got me in a ruse. |

It's a euphemism for eating salmon and the hit was only as dirty as a Pitlick Clip. - I-own_da-Northwest

The Chara thing was stupid. Remind me, was he charged in the end? Was it in Montreal or Boston? |

I also agree it was stupid I was just using it to make a point. Emelin is ok which is good and Burrows is suspended whether it was intentional or not. |
