I agree with you Colin. This game should have been OVER after the first period. Hopefully the scoring touch is coming around, but I think it was more of a factor of Buffalo tiring as opposed to the Leafs turning it on. - cooi87
"tiring"? or perhaps they're just an awful team |

Regardless of the opponent I still noticed way, way, WAY!!! too many times in all 3 zones that Leaf forwards and D's did not finish checks on Buffalo players after they made passes, essentially giving them free passes.
The best teams, or even good middle of the road teams don't do that. It doesn't require talent it just requires desire and should be done right from the drop of the puck in hopes that it pays dividends in the latter stages of close games.
Maybe I'm blind but i didn't see nearly enough of it.
My 2 cents. - Wendel_Rocked
late on this
but what you witnessed was called "Having the Puck"
something we dont see in leafland
when you carry 70% of the play... throwing and finishing checks dont happen as much

Of course.
Despite all the effort put in by everybody else, the lazy (frank)er only made 10 saves. Staple his ass to the bench until he figures out what work ethic is. - lumlums
I think only making 10 saves makes the shutout all that more impressive for him. He usually gets distracted when it's an easy game. |

Apparently Buffalo wants an arm and a leg for Stewart... so Moulson would probably require a heart.
And we all know the Leafs don't have that. |

With Hunter in charge of drafting, maybe we'll get a few Seth Griffiths in the later rounds. |

Oh love our euro quota....but maybe with Hunter we'll start picking some OHL under the radar guys. (yeah, like Connor Brown). Hunter's London Knight picks seem to be making the NHL more and more. Too often I see us picking USHL guys that go nowhere. |

Yeah I getcha. If Hunter has half as much success as Bergman at nabbing the late picks, we will be doing just fine in a few years.
EDIT: Who the (frank) is Glennie? I meant Thommie Bergman |

The only reason Buffalo signed guys like Moulson and traded for guys like Gorges, etc was so they could peddle them all at the deadline for more picks |

I think they wanted a couple examples of hard workers to insert amongst the kids personally. That said, they do have a fair share of assets to peddle at the deadline....
