IS this the general consensus from around the league by most fans?
From Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun: "In order not to enrage our friends on the other side of the Peace Bridge, let’s make one thing clear — we have far too much respect for the Buffalo organization to suggest that they are losing on purpose.
"But man, the optics surrounding this once-proud franchise certainly are so bad, there surely will be allegations from the outside that, yes, that’s exactly what they are doing. |

I don't think the players are losing on purpose. I think management just assembled a roster that is so bad that its just not possible to win.
The players are demoralized. |

They sure sucked at losing on purpose to SJ on the weekend. Is it not possible they just plain suck - look at that roster - Moulson and Ennis are the biggest offensive threats. If Buff is losing on purpose, what's Carolina doing? |

Like he said the optics look really bad. Again to avoid this the NHL must give equal chance at the top pick for all non playoff teams, no one team should have an advantage in the draft lottery. Each pick is randomly drawn. |

Furthermore I'd like to add that constant losing in Buffalo will creating a losing culture. That is hard to shake. See the Leafs. The roster has improved so much on paper but sometimes you have to shake your head at the ways they manage to lose.
See Edmonton too. So many talented players yet they can't win.
Buffalo should be concerned about their youth development and they need to shelter their young players with veterans and real professionals |

Most of the players that are on this roster currently are fill-ins while the prospects mature in Rochester. My only wish is guys like Zadorov and Reinhart could go down and play in the AHL, but cannot with this stupid CHL transfer rule.

I don't follow Buffalo at all, but are they not keeping many of their top prospects down in the AHL...I will be very surprised if Reinhart sticks, last night was likely his last NHL game this year. |

thats right..players dont lose games on purpose
Murray just puts a team out there that just cant win most night. moves like acquiring Jorges .. you know toughness and leadership moves that optically look like you are trying....but doesnt help you win |

nice of them to potentially destroy a veteran player's career...good luck finding the needed veteran depth down the road when needed. |

Grigs too, even though he's a bit older. Agreed that they should let 19 year olds play in the AHL. |

Gorges could have had his career ruined here instead, but refused. He can lie in the bed he made. |

I thinks thats crap... draft an elite talent like Crosby or Mcdavid and that all goes away
Pittsburgh had 4 seasons in a row of total points of 69 65 58 58
they were fine
so far Buffalo will be 89, 82, 52 and 35-40?

I am sure he will be fine with his millions he makes
Buffalo will be fine once they get pick #1 or #2 this draft |

oh, I don't feel sorry for him, just the optics it creates to the rest of the league. Might cause problems for them later when trying to sign UFA's or get players to waive NTC etc. But if they do get McDavid, and he lives up the hype..he might be a big enough draw to those same players.. so who knows. I just sucks for fans of Buffalo and their nightly opponents to watch that crap. |

You bench a goalie playing the Sabres. Real smart.

A change in management can shake things up as well.
Habs really benefited from the coach/GM changes because it wasn't just about hockey move, but the way the organization acted and saw things was completely different. |

Drafting a generational talent obviously helps move things along, that said, teams the draft or assemble through the middle of the ice (centres) are the teams that have the greatest success.
Obviously you need goaltending and defence but that depth up the middle is the only way to go. |
