If the Steelers can hold on the 7-3 might be enough.

Don't know what I'm more impressed by, 51 on Sunday or 8 on Tuesday night.

"What would the score have been with a proper bottom six?"

Ryan has a way of writing his articles and they mostly make sense. Some are negative, some aren't. I like the extra input from him, but I especially like everyone returning everyday and talking hockey.

It's also only a matter of time before he follows in Brians footsteps and we wind up with Bartley writing the blog

Seriously. I don't know what I think about this edition of the Penguins, but there is a lot here to like. Bottom six scoring. A mobile and talented young defense core with a nose for the net. A team who didn't let a trapping NJ team smother them after going down 3-1 and soring seven unanswered goals.

I especially like that last one so much I am going to repeat, seven unanswered goals after being down 3-1.

How about a coach who rewards his young defenseman and moves him up a line to reward him? I like this coach. He is a smart man. Looks good fellas.

Not sure if that would be glorious or painful. Probably a little bit of both.

Despres' rise all but insures a big time hockey trade before the deadline rolls around. Hope he keeps it up. Can't wait.

Again: Scuderi/Dumoulin would be the first ones to go ImO.

Despres is here to stay and will look better each game. Give him Bortuzzo or Harrington and watch him flourish

In my eyes he's been above average since the start of the season. Size+Skill+Skating

I'd love to keep Despres. He, along with Beau Bennett, have been the two prospects that I've been keeping the closest eye on for several years now. I'd also like to keep Dumo and Harrington. Obviously with our log jam, that's not gonna happen. At least one of them will go.

If Despres continues going the way he's going, he's going to quickly turn into our most valuable expendable asset. Teams are gonna want him and we can afford to lose him with Harrington and Dumo (even Pouliot) in the pipe. If a team wants to give us a legit top 6 winger with some youth to his step, but insist on Despres instead of Dumo, I'm still biting.

NOT saying Simon is the second coming of Pronger. AM saying that it took four years and a trade for Chris to figure things out. Depres is ahead of that curve. Why trade a NHL ready, nearly proven asset with upside when the pipeline is filled with good d-men?

Why get rid of Simon when you have Martin to trade? Also I wouldn't give up Harrington at all. The one I'd trade is Dumoulin. He seems to be average at everything (too much like a Ryan Whitney)

For one, Martin's untouchable until Maatta comes back. For two, Martin is a rental and has a limited NTC, diminishing the opportunity to make a hockey a trade.

Your point about Dumo highlights my point. We're not gonna get quality for perceived mediocrity. We have to give some to get some. Like I said in a previous blog: If I'm GM, I'm not actively shopping Simon around, but if a really good offer comes in I'm definitely listening to it. With Bortuzzo tried and true and three other guys who could potentially step up and fill out bottom pairing rolls, you'd be a fool not to.

Sure, you have to listen to almost any offer. But I've been saying this for a couple of years... This team needs bigger, stronger players. Especially on D. They've been getting killed by bigger teams in the playoffs. I don't know how far he develops, but I'm not moving a guy with his size and skill set unless I'm blown away.

That's why I don't ever talk about a Despres or Bortuzzo trade. In my eyes they are keepers.
